We enjoyed a warm, sunshine-filled Memorial Day Weekend here in Garrett County…I hope that means we’ll see more of that over the coming months. 🙂 But for now, let’s get outside and enjoy the area! It’s summertime, friends!

93rd ANNIVERSARY OF DEEP CREEK LAKE
Celebrated throughout Garrett County June 7th-June 10th
With 65 miles of shoreline, Deep Creek Lake is Maryland’s largest freshwater lake. 1.2 million tourists come to the lake every year…this is a place to celebrate! Happy Birthday, Deep Creek! The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce will be collecting info on events and specials happening throughout the county…check their website for details.
HABITAT HOME STORE COMMUNITY FAIR
Saturday June 9th at the Habitat Home Store in Oakland, MD, 11AM to 3PM
There will be lots of games, food for sale from Triple B BBQ and the Lakeside Creamery, and live music provided by local musician Jason Shaw. The Mountaintop Cruisers Car Club and Antique Tractors will also be set up in parking lot. The event will be supporting the following non-profits in the community: Garrett County Habitat for Humanity, Garrett Mentors, Inc., The Dove Center and It’s in the Bag. Sounds like there will be something for the whole family!
PHOTOGRAPHY COMPOSITION CLASS AT THE LAVENDER FARM
Tuesday, June 26th at the Deep Creek Lavender Farm – 5PM to 9PM
I’m teaching another photography class! In April, I taught Basic & Creative Composition in Photography as part of the continuing ed program at Garrett College. Anne Davidson, owner of Deep Creek Lavender Farm asked me if I’d do a photography class at her farm and after some good feedback from my students and continued interest from friends, I decided to give it another go! We’ll be meeting for both class time and shooting at the farm (models included and lavender lemonade included) and hopefully enjoying a glowy summer sunset while we learn. Space is limited to 15 people and tickets are $75. Beginner and experienced photographers, this is a class for you!
FAST & FURRIEST 5K FUN RUN
Saturday, June 30th – Lions Club Dog Park next to HART Animal Center
Grab your tennis shoes and your dog and join in on the first annual Fast & Furriest 5k Fun Run! This event is sponsored by Taylor Made Vacations Rentals and Real Estate and benefits HART for Animals! This is a fun run/walk for all the animal lovers out there. Find out more and register online!
Side note: This is a picture from one of my recent visits to HART. They started a Photographers Collective program that invites area photographers to take pictures of the adoptable cats and dogs. Hannah tagged along for some extra help and this dog was one of her favorites. 🙂

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
