I was going to make this a Swallow Falls State Park vs Deep Creek Lake State Park blog post, but decided that’s too specific. Let’s broaden our horizons here in Deep Creek. Let’s step into the forest and walk along the lake…

When you choose the forest as your engagement session location, you get the following: trails, pines, tall trees, ferns covering the forest floor, waterfalls, giant rocks…and yes, Swallow Falls State Park here in Garrett County, MD (just minutes from Deep Creek Lake) makes a great spot for all of that. Nearby forests should also be considered…

And when you choose the lake, you get: sand, rocky shoreline, shallow water, trees, open space that lets glowy sunlight in…the beach area of Deep Creek Lake State Park gives you all of that. There’s also opportunity for activities like bike riding and canoeing, too…

The forest and the lake also make great locations for weddings, but we’ll save that for another blog post.
