THE WEATHER
We have zero natural snow right now and there is none in the forecast.
But Wisp is making snow, or at least they were last night and this morning – on 12 trails. Winter is not over for them! Check out their snow report here.
Plenty of sunshine, though! Sunny and chilly today, some sun and 40s tomorrow, maybe rain and gray conditions Saturday, but Sunday-Tuesday look beautiful with 60 degrees and sun!
THIS JUST IN
Remember the new brewery I mentioned a couple of weeks ago? It has a name and a location! Brewery and the Beast comes from locally well-known Bar-B-Qed Beast and will share the Xtreme Power Sports building in Accident behind The Rolling Pin Bakery. Sounds like they’re looking to open in April!
BIG SALE happening at High Mountain Sports! Skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, winter jackets and pants, hats…it’s all on sale right now!
The Vagabond Taproom in downtown Oakland serves their soup in giant mugs! Yum!
The Cinnamon Toast Chai at Moonshadow Cafe is delicious!
THINGS TO DO
Here’s an idea: make a charcuterie board for the weekend! I recommend going to FireFly Farms Market in Accident for your ingredients. Ask the staff to help you choose or order a charcuterie board to go! If it’s going to be rainy and gray on Saturday, could be a nice day for sitting inside and enjoying cheese.
If you plan to ski, board or tube at Wisp Resort on a weekend, buy your tickets online in advance if you can!
Looking for fish on Fridays through Lent? Ace’s Run and St. Peter’s in Oakland has meals!
Just over the county border – Western Maryland Scenic Railroad! I talked with Brett in marketing about how I might help them get the word out about their unique train experiences…mystery dinner rides, the ice cream train, the spring fling express…they’ve got a lot to offer! Depending on where you are in Deep Creek + Garrett County, MD, it would be a 20-60 minute drive to the Cumberland train station.

Hometown Brewfest at Canaan Valley Resort – Saturday, March 2nd 1-9pm (not a local event, but worth mentioning because the Canaan Valley-Thomas-Davis area of WV is just south of us and is worth checking out!
Mountain Fresh Farmers Market Winter Market – Saturday, March 2nd 10am-1pm at their pavilion in the Oakland town parking lot

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
