Rachel & David: Gilsland Farm Audubon Center Wedding, Portland, ME Wedding Photographer

When Rachel contacted me last summer about her Maine wedding, I almost couldn’t believe it. She wanted me to come to Maine to shoot her wedding!?! It was a no-brainer…of course I’d make the trip! It would be my first destination wedding and I was completely flattered. 🙂

Rachel and I actually went to Geibel Catholic High School together, so we go way back. We weren’t in the same class and we weren’t super good friends, so it’s neat how her wedding in Maine brought us back together. I was also reunited with her sister Teresa who played volleyball with me during those Geibel days. Another Geibel alum was in the wedding party and two more attended as guests. It was a little mini reunion!

I decided that I wasn’t going to make the trip alone, so my sister Krista tagged along and we made a little vacation out of it. We flew into Boston and toured the city for a day before heading up through New Hampshire to Portland, Maine. We stayed in the most wonderful B&B, The Pomegranate Inn, and really enjoyed the sights, sounds and food of Portland. (We HIGHLY recommend both the Pomegranate and Portland Lobster Co.). Shooting Rachel and David’s wedding in Maine was a dream. They treated us to a schooner ride, showed us the area’s famous lighthouses, were excited to take pictures along the coast and welcomed us at their beautiful outdoor reception at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. It was a truly picturesque weekend and I cannot wait to go back to Maine! Hopefully to shoot another wedding. 😉

So here ya go, folks! Rachel and David’s beautiful New England wedding! There’s lots to see here today at JFP!!!

First off, the schooner ride with the Portland Schooner Company! It was definitely a very Maine-ish thing to do. Such a great idea by the bride and groom!

There’s Teresa and Stephen on the right! I played high school volleyball with Teresa and Stephen is actually one of my brother’s childhood friends.

Mother and daughters. 🙂

I asked Rachel and David to smooch while posing for some pictures on the boat. This is the reaction I got from them…

Now it’s time for the wedding day! Rachel got ready at the house her parents rented in Cape Elizabeth. The master bedroom matched the wedding perfectly and provided a gorgeous area for the getting ready moments…

How awesome are Rachel’s shoes!?! Never seen anything like those before, especially on a bride!

Rachel did a little dance after she was all zipped in her dress. 🙂

Rachel made putting on bridal shoes so beautiful and picturesque…

Time for the guys! They were almost ready to go when I got to the church. Just needed some boutonnieres!

The boutonnieres are always a challenge, but these guys were up for the challenge! They pinned on almost all of them!

This was Rachel pretty much the entire day. Beaming and beautiful!

Off to the lighthouse for pictures! So glad Rachel and David didn’t mind crossing the rocks for their photography!

My sister captured this one. Go Krista!

So smiley and giggly. I must have been one funny photog. 😉

Love these next two. So peaceful and lovely. 🙂

Rachel rockin’ it on the rocks!!!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDE WARNING!!!!

Another shot by Krista on the left…

Time for the beautiful reception! I loved the flowers oh-so much!

How fun is this cake!?! Three different flavors and no tier needed!

The speeches and toasts were awesome! Everyone was laughing!

And the food was AMAZING! A good menu was important to Rachel and David and everyone was very impressed with the selection.

And we’ll end with some ring shots….

Rachel and David, it was an honor photographing your wedding. The fact that you asked me and brought me to your new found hometown meant so much. I had an absolutely wonderful time exploring New England and being at your wedding! I couldn’t have asked for a nicer, more accommodating couple to work with on such a trip. Thanks for everything!

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
