Photos at the Beach Area of Deep Creek Lake State Park

Photographing our visiting families here at Deep Creek is one of my favorite things! All summer long, I get to hang out with grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads, cousins, and kiddos who come here to get away, spend family time, enjoy a vacation, and celebrate milestones together. And they’re including family pictures as part of their stay. 🙂

When able, I like to meet families where they’re staying…keeps it easy on the groups! Besides, there are so many beautiful rental homes here, it’s hard to pass up taking pictures at the lakefront scenes, lush backyards and enchanting woods that surround the homes.

But when taking pictures at the rental home isn’t doable, thankfully we’ve got the beach area of Deep Creek Lake State Park to fall back on. Plenty of flat grass space, various trees, lots of sand, “rocky shoreline”, and easy water access are all ingredients for a very photogenic photo location. Here’s a small sampling of what we can capture at one of the prettiest places in Deep Creek and Garrett County, MD…

Some things to note:

All sessions are scheduled assuming there will be sun so we’re shooting in the best light possible. In summer, this means 9am and 7pm. The beach area photographs well in both morning and evening sunlight and both are displayed in the pictures above.

Sometimes there is no sun and we’re meeting with overcast conditions – this is very okay! You do not need sun to take pictures! When there is sun though, pictures are more light-filled, leaving colors with a softer, brighter look overall. When there is no sun, less light fills the setting and colors are more saturated and apparent. Both are just fine results, but it’s important to notice the difference. LIGHT plays a HUGE part…just like the location. When planning your family photo session, both are top priority so we’re getting you the best! 🙂

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
