Our Sixth Anniversary!

Fun facts about Brian and I:

1. We have the same birthday! Both born on December 11th. 🙂 (Our little girl Ally was also born on December 11th. It’s a birthday trifecta!)
2. We met at Bridgewater College; we’re college sweethearts.
3. Brian’s pretty calm, and I’m pretty not…sometimes. We really do make a good balance (and I’ve come to realize this more now that we have two kiddos!).
4. Neither of us likes to spend money.
5. I cook, he does the dishes (except when I need a break from the kids and he hasn’t seen them all day).
6. We don’t need a fancy restaurant or costly activity to entertain us on the weekends. A day at the house with close friends is just fine with us.
7. Brian is an excellent marshmallow roaster and I LOVE to eat marshmallows!
8. We both enjoy good, hearty salads.
9. He calls me a “city girl” sometimes, even though I did not grow up in the city.
10. We were married on the 4th of July!

Six years ago tomorrow, Brian and I were married. Yep, on the 4th of July. We wanted a certain kind of wedding and when we found the right venue, we booked the last date they had available for the following year, and that was July 4th. I know what you might be thinking…as a husband, Brian has got it made! He doesn’t have to remember my birthday or our anniversary! They both fall on dates that are very important for other reasons (see #1 above), so they’re hard to forget…and he’s a lucky guy! Ha!

Six years of one continuous thing is a long time. It’s longer than high school, and for most, it’s longer than college! We’ve moved three times, lived in four different places (three different states), made two BIG career decisions, had two kiddos, built a house, bought a couple cars, traveled to the Caribbean (for both a cruise and a JFP wedding), and have made so many great friends. I often wonder what life will be like for us down the road…in ten, twenty, thirty years. Maybe we’ll buy another house somewhere warm (the Carolinas sound good to me!). Maybe our kiddos will be athletes and we’ll be attending sporting events almost every day of the week. Maybe we’ll have the opportunity to travel to Europe together…or Africa or Hawaii.

Whatever we’re doing, I know we’ll be together. I could not imagine my life without Brian. He helps balance me out so well, he always knows what to do, and he knows how to fix pretty much everything! He also pays the bills and knows all the account passwords, so I really can’t get rid of him. 😉 He makes me feel safe and he even buys me flowers sometimes to make me feel special. He may not be the most romantical guy, but I don’t really like to be romanced…I think, ha! Just spending good quality time with him is enough for me! We’ve had six years of good quality time so far, and I look forward to 60 more! Happy Anniversary, Honey!!! I LOVE YOU! 🙂

And here’s a little look back at our wedding day…six years ago…

Pictures were taken by Photographic Memories and Carole Vilella Photography (my mom!).

This was Brian’s idea…:)

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
