It was chilly this morning, felt very much like fall. Received an inquiry for fall engagement photos at the lake. Can’t help but let that fall mindset start creeping in…

And let past fall photos to do some inspiring!

I’ve photographed a handful of engagement sessions at the boat ramp at Deep Creek Lake State Park. It’s a location that gives big lake vibes (and views) and lots of colorful leaves, both at the shoreline and in the parking lot. It’s also usually quiet in the fall because very few boats are going in and out. 

I always start in the parking lot because it’s abundant in trees and fall colors. The sunlight streaming through the trees is a nice bonus and something I hope for! Some smile-for-the-camera portraits surrounded by leaves and attractive light is how we start, and then we flow down to the water…

And when at the water, I always hope for rock-hopping opportunities! Or maybe we sit on the rocks. Either way, I love incorporating the rocky shoreline in any photos, any time of year. Sit, stand, hop…and the lake views are big and bold.
