get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
I love color. Yellow, red, purple, blue, green, blush, magenta, teal, black and white. I love color! I don’t know exactly why, but I’m naturally drawn to things of color, lots of color…bright and bold colors, sometimes with patterns. If it’s polka dot and has every color of the rainbow included, I’m going to notice it and probably really like it. Or as my husband would say, “If it’s ugly, Jess will like it.” (His side of the closet is so boring.)
One thing that seems to be important to a lot of couples when planning their wedding is COLOR! What color will the bridesmaids wear? What color will the flowers be? What color bows will we tie on the back of the chairs? Weddings include color, and because a lot of wedding day details depend on the color choice, I’m going to shed some light and hopefully inspire by sharing some of my favorite wedding colors!
Soft and Neutral
As a lover of usually the bright and bold colors, you might be surprised to find that “soft and neutral” is one of my favorite recent wedding colors. Pictured above are Carrie and her maids. They’re all dressed in different dresses, WHICH I LOVE (and it always looks awesome in pictures!), but the overall color is soft. In my opinion, this soft blush color, along with other soft and neutral tones, is a wonderful way to compliment the romantic, sweet atmosphere of a wedding.
Such soft colors also allow room for some glam! A use of metallics or a shiny element like sequins make for an interesting contrast to the soft colors…like in Julie and Brandon’s wedding at Rich Farms! Julie’s maids wore a gray-blue dressed with soft, feminine florals, and when paired with silver, gold and copper at the reception, it created a uniquely beautiful combination of colors.
Jade and CJ also incorporated this look by combining silver sequins, yellow and gray at The Hayloft…
And taupe, or other neutral colors, look pretty with soft florals…
Or bright and colorful florals!
Black and White
You might also be surprised that black and white is a favorite wedding color choice for me. I think it’s the bold contrast the two make together, and the suggestion of “spicy elegance” (I just made that up, ha!) they suggest, that really attracts me. Fun fact: My senior prom dress was black and white and included stripes. 🙂
Alyssa and Josh’s elegant and formal affair at the George Washington in Washington, PA included both bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing black. The white walls and ceiling, and black and white floors of the ceremony room really highlighted this color combination and I just loved the way it all turned out!
Kelly and John’s fall wedding at North Glade Inn was probably the wedding that reminded me of how much I love black and white together. While the bridesmaids didn’t wear black, the guys did, and it complimented the crisp colors of the season and the softness of the peach dresses so well…
Lots of color!
If I was planning my wedding today, I’d have a heck of a time choosing colors because I really just love so many colors, especially when they’re all together. I’m currently planning a styled shoot with vendor friends that is going to incorporate a wide variety of colors, and I’m so excited to see such a colorful vision come to life! I’ve seen it done at a few weddings, like at Kasey and Jay’s big day a few years ago. Kasey and her maids are pictured above…aren’t their bright and COLORFUL bouquets amazing!? No need to choose! Just throw a bunch of colors into the palette! 🙂
Kaylin and Dean also incorporated a variety of (bright and bold!) colors in their wedding day…
I already mentioned my love for mis-matched bridesmaids dresses above, but I’m just going to say it again. I LOVE THIS LOOK! Not only does it look wonderful in pictures and allow you to incorporate many colors in the wedding day, but it also allows your maids to choose a dress that really suits them. Everyone wins! 🙂
Day 24 of Starting Something New.
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
