Your Deep Creek Tour Guide and Your Deep Creek Photographer

February 25, 2024

Talked to a bride for an hour and 15 minutes on Thursday night about her Deep Creek wedding. She’s from Baltimore and while she’s been here before, she isn’t super familiar. Her place and date aren’t official yet, but she’s got a pretty good idea of what she and her fiance want: laid back lake scene where she can kick off her shoes and where their friends and family feel like they can come for more than a wedding, they can make it a getaway…

They’re looking to marry at some rental homes and I’ve photographed weddings at all of them. We talked about bathrooms, parking, noise ordinances, the backyard space, the interior spaces…

I was even able to share with her that the cove where all the houses sit is a no-wake zone so they wouldn’t have to worry about fast boat traffic and hard-to-stand-on docks. All things I’ve learned through my Deep Creek wedding experiences.

She asked about transportation and lodging options for her guests, and the weather. She wondered what the weather would be like in early May and I had to warn her about the past two Mays when it snowed. She isn’t sure she and her fiance want a wedding party and I reassured that she can do whatever she wants on their wedding day. As long as they’ve got the marriage license, they’re set.

She mentioned how they’d found vendor info online, but weren’t sure about any of it because they don’t know our area and the people who work in it.

I explained to her how all my couples have the ability to ask for specific vendor recommendations after booking and all the info can be kept in an online workspace that we’ll share throughout.

She asked if there was any other option besides a lakefront rental home for getting married at the water, so I shared about a local restaurant that can be an option and what my experience was like there for a Christmas wedding.

In a nutshell, we talked about a lot…and I LOVED IT! I got to share all about the Deep Creek wedding possibilities, which always drums up the excitement and visions, and she and her fiance now hopefully have a solid foundation of info so they can make the right plans for them.

There’s so much goodness from this…the phone call that allowed us to get to know each other, the helpful info that was efficiently shared, the ability to just dump any and all Deep Creek wedding and area info that can’t be so easily found online.

I am here to help beyond the photography. If you want to talk about what it’s like to marry here, or even just vacation here, I’m an open book! Let’s talk about what it’s like in busy season at the lake, how far it is from lodging to venue, when it might actually be warm and not snowing here. Let’s talk about all the Deep Creek things!

Because if you’re not here, I can fill that gap for you. Your boots on the ground, your giant bucket of water when you feel like a fish out of water.

I’m your Deep Creek Tour Guide and Your Deep Creek Photographer.

Kaitlin, if you’re reading this, I hope it doesn’t snow on your May wedding day. But if it does, it would be a little magical. Laughable, yes, but magical too. 🙂

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
