We’re moving…again!

It’s official….we’re moving again! This time last year we were running all over Morgantown trying to find a nice place to rent. And now a year later we’re looking forward to yet another move! Who woulda thunk it!?! 😉

Brian and I started our land/house hunt in Morgantown at the end of winter. Between then and the beginning of summer, we found a few things that we really liked and even almost made an offer on a small 7-acre horse ranch (don’t worry, the horses were going with the owners). But it seemed like things were being taken away from us quicker and quicker with each find (one house was on the market for just two days!). It’s as if God didn’t want us in Morgantown and thought we were meant to be somewhere else. We started following the signs and took our search 45 minutes east of Morgantown in Garrett County, MD. Brian grew up in Garrett County and I went there every summer with my family, so it’s a familiar place to both of us.

Luckily, we found exactly what we were looking for…in land! So last week, the 6-acre, minimally wooded and slightly sloped, but mostly flat, piece of land was ours! Our plan is to start building at the end of the upcoming Garretty County winter and move in by next fall. We won’t be super close to the hustle and bustle of a large city, but we’ll be close enough. We will be super close to the beautiful Deep Creek Lake area and will probably live a much simpler life, and I think it’s going to be pretty grand. Despite the chances of receiving hundreds of inches of snow each year, I’m pretty excited for this new journey and new beginning!

Here’s a look into our future in Garrett County, MD…

There’s about 3/4 an acre of wooded land on the property. The previous owner cleared out this little pathway that we’re definitely planning on keeping…

And you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be doing some portrait sessions back here! 😉

We have naturally growing wild berry bushes on the property! Definitely a pretty cool feature. 🙂

We plan to have a fire pit right here and make this a little hideaway type area…

Through the woods on the side of the property, looking at the neighbors…

Looking at the views and the farmland behind us…

A view from the woods…our house will go right there in the middle!

And here’s a view from the road. We’re hoping to have a nice size driveway that we can outline with beautiful trees!

I can’t wait to make a life on this land with these two crazy kids! 😉

P.S. I still plan on doing a lot of work in the Morgantown, WV and Pittsburgh, PA areas, but will pick up a bit more Maryland work, especially in the Deep Creek Lake area! So this doesn’t change too much for JFP…don’t worry, be happy. 🙂

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
