Erika and Jay were married in June at the beautiful, long-awaited White Barn At Lucas Farm in Oakland, MD, not far from the Deep Creek Lake area. The barn was brand spankin’ new (more on that just below) and Erika and Jay were just beaming with joy to be THE FIRST wedding at the new venue. Erika and Jay’s personalities combined with the excitement of this new venue made me doubly excited to be a part of their day!
Erika and Jay were the first to marry at The White Barn at Lucas Farm!
When Erika and Jay came to me and said they were going to have their wedding at a venue that wasn’t even built yet, I was excited! Ok, maybe just a tiny bit worried (booking a venue after only seeing a sketch of it, that’s gutsy!), but I was mostly excited. The venue was being built by some local friends and it was going to be white. ALL WHITE. A white barn wedding venue in Garrett County! YESSS! It was sure to be a stunner and Erika and Jay had complete confidence that barn owners Brittney and Matt (continued congrats, friends!) would make things happen.
And they absolutely did!
So on the first Saturday in June, Erika and Jay’s family and friends gathered outside at the large oak tree for a sun-filled ceremony and were dazzled inside the beautifully decorated and curated barn. It was quite a day for so many people, and I’m excited to finally share it all on the blog!
My mom and I were blown away by Erika’s dress! We hadn’t seen anything like it before! It had a taupe tone to it and the bead work was stunning!

The White Barn has got private spaces for both the guys and girls to hang out in and get ready, which helped keep everyone at one location…and kept me happy with all the white walls and ceilings! So much nice, natural, bright light!
And here’s the bridal suite! The old windows that Brittney and Matt had installed add such unique charm!

Officiant and friend Paula Thomas provided some friendly comments and stories during the ceremony. She’s always such a joy to have at weddings!

The sunset light was gorgeous! So glad Erika and Jay were okay with stepping back outside for a bit. Our last formal portraits of the day took place in the same area they shared their first look… 🙂

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
