Before Christmas, we got some snow in Morgantown and it prompted me to write about my love for snowy portraits! While the snow isn’t easy to shoot in, it makes for a beautiful and playful backdrop that is tremendously different than the typical green grass and colorful leaves that everyone wants in their portraits. I say go against what’s typical and brave the storm! The snow storm, that is. 🙂
When Suzanne and I decided to put her family’s portrait session on the calendar, we had no idea we’d be setting it up for a day filled with snow. We trekked through well over a foot of snow in some places during this session, but it didn’t bother Suzanne, Dan and little Lloyd one bit. Suzanne grew up in Garrett County, MD, which is known for the crazy amounts of snow the area receives every year, so a little snow in the portraits was perfectly appropriate for her little family. Despite my occasional frozen fingers and not-high-enough boots, their session was tons of fun!
Cute little Lloyd! I think he may have been wondering why we dragged him outside into the freezing cold!?! 🙂
Then he heard the sound of my shutter and realized we were taking snowy portraits! Woooooo.

Oakland was a winter wonderland!
Lloyd even sat in the snow on his own for a few shots…he didn’t like it at first, but mom and dad sang and made it all soooo much better!
Suzanne, Dan and Lloyd, I’m so glad we were finally able to meet up…and I’m so glad you guys were ok with snowy portraits! I absolutely loved capturing your little family in the winter wonderland of Oakland, MD and I hope we’ll get back together for more pictures in the future…maybe a different season?? 🙂

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
