get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
I’ve known Rachel since our days at Bridgewater College. I was an International Studies major and she was an Art major. I’m not really sure how, but we knew each other! Then, a couple years after I graduated from college, Rachel shared my name with her sister who was getting married and we were reunited in Lancaster, PA for that lovely affair. Fast forward a couple more years and Rachel and I were back in touch! Not for college reasons or for wedding reasons, but for business and art project reasons. I needed some new branding and she needed someone that would act as a “client” for one of her masters classes. So, because of Rachel and that art project, JFP looks the way it does today! She’s responsible for my logo, my colors and that pretty little pennant banner you see strung at the top of this blog. (Thanks for your awesome art skills, Rachel!)
Add a couple more years to our journey and I was privileged to be Rachel’s wedding photographer this past May. It was so neat to serve her as she had done so well serving me just a couple years prior. I needed to pay this girl back for not only referring me to her sister, but for also doing a wonderful job with my branding…and choosing me for her school project! Hopefully I gave she and new hubby Shawn an image collection that they’ll cherish forever. 🙂
A dress with “volume” and sparkly orange bridal shoes. Thumbs up!
Being the wonderful artist that she is, Rachel designed their super cool, super unique programs…
The picture on the right is of a gift Rachel and Shawn gave to their little niece and flower girl, Stella Mae. 🙂
Rachel and Shawn’s mom tackled the art of bouquet-making! I say they did an excellent job!
When we met at Shawn’s parents’ house for their engagement session, Rachel already had this room picked out for some bridal portraits. She chose very well!
Stella Mae!
All-time FAVORITE JFP bridal portrait, right here!!!
Work it, Rachel. 😉
When I arrived at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, VA, Shawn and his guys were ready for me! They had found a video on YouTube about pinning a boutonniere and were so bravely trying to do it on their own…
Then Rachel and I slipped away to prep for their first look, and to snag a few bridal portraits…
Black and white or color? I couldn’t decide…
Rachel – Ally just happened to peek at the computer when I was putting these bridal portraits together and she remarked how pretty you looked. 😉
Check out these eyes!!! 🙂
Here comes Shawn!
First look hug!
First look laughs…
And a few portraits inside the barn before getting hitched!
Yes, ladies. I caught you! 😉
I did Dan and Allison’s wedding three years ago in Lancaster, PA!
Does anybody else notice how awesome Rachel’s upper back looks in this picture!?!
Again, I couldn’t decide…black and white or color!?
And then there was a cow. Perfectly normal on a wedding day, right!?!
Photo bomb by the cow! That’s a JFP first. 🙂
Fun fact: this isn’t your typical barn…it’s octagonal, not square!
One of the prettiest cupcake displays I’ve ever seen! And yes, they were delicious. 🙂
Look at all that icing! Makes me want a cupcake right now. 🙂
I found the girls secretly doing shots during the reception…
Time for sparklers!
CONGRATS Rachel and Shawn. Thanks so much for inviting me to capture your day. I know your photography was important to you and I appreciate you trusting me with that responsibility. I’m sure we’ll meet again sometime in the near future…at Bridgewater, for family portraits, when there are Doria kiddos running around… 😉
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

Jess, these photos are AMAZING!!!!
P.S. Ryan and I had our wedding reception in that barn 5 years ago in July. Did you know that it is actually from Bridgewater?!?! 🙂 I chose that location for my reception site because it is rustic and I wanted some of B’water there.
