Kristen + Andrew: Heston Farm Wedding, Fairmont, WV Wedding Photographer

It had been raining for most of my drive to Heston Farm and when I arrived at the venue, it was clear that the rain wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. But when I entered the pavilion area where the ceremony and reception would be held, the gloomy, rainy day was immediately brightened with the handmade goodness of Kristen and Andrew’s wedding. I was surrounded by yellow, blue and pink paper flowers, a variety of mason jars ready to party, helping hands with big smiles and all the details a photographer could ever want! Kristen and Andrew occasionally posted previews of all their handmade goodies on Facebook and I could not wait to see their creativity come to life at the wedding! They absolutely outdid themselves with the decorations and details, and to say that everyone was blown away would be an understatement.

The rain unfortunately kept Kristen and Andrew from having the outdoor ceremony they planned, but the covered pavilion area offered a great indoor-outdoor alternative. The rain didn’t bother Kristen and Andrew, and it certainly didn’t bother me because I had tons of beautiful details to shoot and a wonderful couple to hang out with. 🙂 The rain also let up just in time for fun and formals, so we were able to explore the farm for pictures.

Get ready, y’all! This one’s full of color and handmade goodness! ENJOY…and say WOW!

Harper, Kristen and Andrew’s little girl, was ready for the camera right from the start!

A new fave ring shot down there on the right. 🙂

Andrew and Kristen were super laid back on their wedding day. They actually hung out before getting ready and didn’t care that they were “breaking the rules” by breaking tradition. So their first look wasn’t technically their first look at each other. It was their first look at each other all dressed and ready to go, though…

Guests started arriving so Kristen head back inside to hide and relax before the ceremony…

Check out Andrew’s handmade paper boutonniere! There is WAY more where this came from…just wait. 😉

The indoor-outdoor ceremony spot!

Both parents gazing at their daughter as she walks down the aisle…

Instead of the typical vows or writing their own, Kristen and Andrew decided it would be more appropriate to choose readings of love to express their feelings and commitment towards each other. It was so beautiful, so heart-felt and so personal!

A quick moment of tearful celebration after the ceremony…

For some reason, Heston Farm has these large roosters on their property! Kristen and Andrew requested they be in some pictures…aren’t they a fun couple!?!

They went from being silly and fun to serious and in love…

What a great family picture!!!

This was taken just after I wiped my butt across the rails to clear off the water (for my bride and groom!) and realized that not only had the water transferred to my pants, but also the rust. Oh what I do for my couples. 😉

And now it’s time for all the BEAUTIFUL DETAILS!!! See those hanging colorful paper dots? All handmade!

Cool story behind the mason jars: While some came from Walmart, many were found in the attic of Kristen and Andrew’s house. They didn’t realize they were inheriting a collection of mason jars when they bought their house, but how neat to include them in their wedding day!?!

Kristen said she handmade about 250 paper flowers! WOWZERS!!

One of the best homemade photo booths I’ve ever seen! My favorite part: the iPad set-up with photo booth app! Brilliant!

A little picture of myself for the bride and groom…hehehe 😉

Kristen and Andrew had a very neat “guest book”! Guests signed colorful paper dots that would later become balloons on a picture of a bicycle with balloon strings with Kristen and Andrew’s names and wedding date. Such a great idea!!!

Baked beans, corn, watermelon, BBQ chicken, pasta salad…this is my kind of wedding!

Little Harper was such a well-behaved ltoddler during the whole day. She just needed some time with her mommy before tuckering out…

So what did you think!?! Were you blown away by all the pretty crafty details!?! Kristen and Andrew, your creative and crafty talents are very impressive and made your wedding day very unique and very beautiful! Thanks for being so easy-going during the whole day, despite the rain, and thanks for posing with the roosters and “climbing through the woods” to get to the railroad tracks. 😉 Your wedding will definitely be one I’ll never forget! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
