JFP Announcements

As I’m continuing to adjust to our new life in Maryland and transition from a PC to a Mac, I’ve got a lot of future JFP things on the brain. Busy season is pretty much over, but that doesn’t mean the work stops. I’m still editing weddings and portrait sessions, and preparing for the off-season. But this off-season looks a little different than normal because we’ll be welcoming baby #2 this winter (I’m officially in the third trimester!). So in an effort to keep my JFP thoughts straight and to share those thoughts with my followers, I’m putting together a little “JFP Announcements” post. 🙂

Maternity Leave: I will be on maternity leave from sessions from January 15th to March 1st. I’ll still be working on the computer, answering emails, ordering and designing albums, and blog posting when able, but I won’t be doing any portrait sessions or mentor meetings. So if you’re interested in either a session or meeting this winter, contact me now so we can get you on the calendar either before or after my leave!

Christmas Pictures: Over the past week, I’ve received a handful of inquiries from people wanting Christmas pictures. Christmas is definitely on everyone’s brain, so I totally understand being in the mood for some jolly family pictures for the holiday! But in order for me to guarantee that you’ll at least see a finished collection before Christmas and have time to make prints, the session needs to be done before the end of November. So, if you’re interested in having pictures taken for the holiday season and would like to have those pictures before Christmas, CONTACT ME NOW! 🙂

“Cabin Fever” Photog Q&A: Because the summer style shoot workshop went really well, and because I just love photog meet-ups, I’m planning a little get-together/workshop type event for the winter! I’m envisioning warm beverages, tasty snacks, a bunch of photographers in one room, and the fireplace burning…all at my house! Instead of structure of formalities of a normal workshop, this will be a lot more casual…and attendees will decide what the topics of discussion are! They’ll ask questions and I’ll answer! It’ll be a great learning experience for any kind of photographer and/or small business owner, as well as a networking opportunity. It’ll also be an opportunity to get out during the cold weather and off-season…and get rid of some of that “cabin fever”. I don’t have exact details right now, but I’m thinking an evening in late December or early January. There will be a small cost and I’ll make an official announcement in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!

And just to keep everyone up to date on JFP pictures, here’s what I’ve been working on lately…

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
