Janelle & Drew: Owl-Inspired Fall Wedding, Uniontown, PA Wedding Photographer

Have you ever seen owls at a wedding!? I’m guessing your answer is no because I’ve been to a ton of weddings and first saw them at Janelle and Drew’s wedding just a couple weeks ago. Owls as wedding decor during the fall is such a brilliant and unique idea! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the cute, furry owls throughout Janelle and Drew’s wedding and thought they fit perfectly with the venue and season.

But the owls weren’t the only highlight on Janelle and Drew’s big day. Janelle’s dress was also a highlight and a HUGE hit among guests. Janelle bought her dress from Goodwill for $75 and made a fashion statement with an older bridal trend. It was unlike any other bridal gown I’ve seen in my JFP years and it definitely reminded me of styles from the 80s and 90s…in a good way! I absolutely loved all the detail and the off-the-shoulder look. Janelle totally pulled this off and I commend her for making a statement and essentially taking a risk. I think that’s one of the beauties of a wedding day. 🙂

Janelle and Drew had their wedding at the historic Summit Inn in the mountains of Fayette County, PA. The last time I was at the Summit was for my high school prom, so it’s been quite a while…but how fun to return for a fellow Geibel grad and her wedding day. CONGRATS Janelle and Drew!

The first owl sighting!

Janelle looked sooooo pretty thanks to Lisa at Kiss and Makeup and Kasey at Mirror Mirror Salon.

Time to finally put this dress on!!!

Check out that train! Longest one in JFP history for sure!!

Love these bridal portraits of Janelle. So classic…especially with that dress!

Time for the indoor ceremony in the Summit’s Barron Room. The dark wood and red walls were perfect for their fall wedding…

With only minutes left in the Steelers game, heavy winds, super chilly temperatures, rain and fog, we headed outside for some pictures. And guess what!? No one was mad at me. 🙂

Janelle’s mom was her maid of honor and Drew’s dad was his best man. So sweet when parents are included in the wedding party!

I love the attitude in this one… 😉

Two of my faves from the day!

I love the colors on the left…so ethereal and fairy tale-like.

Janelle totally pulled that dress off! Don’t ya think!?!

More owls!!!

How cute are they!?! I love their little signs, too! Whoooo likes owls!?! 🙂

Beautiful cake! This was given to Janelle and Drew as a wedding gift….awesome!!!

I love pictures of people taking pictures at weddings. 🙂

Love this first dance picture. It was evident that Drew thinks the world of Janelle and was so happy to finally be married to his love.

I kinda feel like this should be a Bud Light ad…hehe. 🙂

A little creepy, smoky picture to end the post…

Despite the rain, chilly temperatures, wind and fog, Janelle and Drew had a beautiful, intimate wedding. Janelle, thanks for being bold with your beautiful bridal gown and cute, furry owls…and thank you both for braving the crazy weather and missing the end of the Steelers game for outdoor pictures. You guys are a true JFP couple! Thanks a million for inviting me back to the Summit for your big day!

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
