It’s A Birthday Trifecta!

Brian, Ally and I are a set of three…a trifecta! But we’re not just any set of three…we’re a set of three biologically related persons that all have the same birthday! Yeppers, that’s right! All born on December 11th! If you’re a friend or family member, you already know the story. But for those of you just tuning in or unaware of our trifecta-ness, here’s a little background info…

Brian and I met at Bridgewater College in 2005. We hung out a few times before finding out that we had the same birthday. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever and since I already had my eye on him, I knew I needed to keep an even closer eye on him. 😉 We started officially dating a couple weeks later!

Ally was due on December 17th. Because I had heard it was common for your first baby to come late and because I didn’t want her to, I was convinced she was coming on Christmas. But boy oh boy did Ally have bigger plans! My water broke on the night of the 10th and when my doctor admitted me into the hospital, she assured us that Ally would indeed come on December 11th! So our little bug was born at 12:48pm weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 1/4 inches long. The nurses treated us to a celebratory cake and sang happy birthday. The local newspapers picked up the story and featured us in their holiday editions. Even the Harrisburg news team shared our story and featured a taped interview during their evening hours. Our birthday trifecta was quite the ordeal!

And here we are now, two years later celebrating Ally’s 2nd birthday. WOW! Where has time gone?? I’m sure you hear and feel often that time goes by so quickly. But when you have kids, I’m pretty convinced that gets multiplied by at least two or three. I can hardly believe Ally has been here two years already! She’s obviously done so much growing in those two years, but these past six months have been particularly jam-packed with growing moments. Her vocabulary is tremendous; she says “thank you” all the time; she laughs when we laugh; she has friends; she enjoys playing in the church nursery; she sits in booths at restaurants and at the dinner table at home; she knows how to “raise the roof”, give high fives, “slap some skin”, and “fist pound”; she sings to Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” song; she LOVES Barney, her blankie and her baby. Ally is definitely a growing little girl. 🙂 So HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LOVES, Ally and Brian! 🙂 I’m so excited and happy to share my birthday with you two! We make quite a special little family.

Just for some added fun, here’s our Christmas card announcement from Ally’s birth two years ago…

And this is Ally on her first birthday! She has so much more hair now!

And since it’s all three of our birthdays, here’s one of our family pictures from last year’s celebration…

And what’s a birthday without some birthday pictures!?!?! Thank you to my friend Anna for helping scope out a photo location and get some smiles!

Well here’s a favorite for sure!!!

And another. Gotta love that giggly smile. 🙂

When my brother, sister and I were younger, my mom would have us make construction paper garland for the Christmas tree. I also made some for our tree and knew it would be perfect for Ally’s little photo shoot. Then I added the colorful rug, dressed her in purple (her favorite color and she can say it!), made her a #2 necklace and decked her out in some cute leg warmers from The Yellow Penguin and a purple cat hat from Rhonda The Hat Lady. This was a well-thought out shoot my friends. 🙂

Of course Ally did not want to sit on the rug forever, so we had to venture…

And there was bound to be a meltdown or two…

But the crying was quickly subsided by a snack!

Ally just recently got interested in jewelry. She loves beads and has quite a collection of bracelets and necklaces. It’s so neat to see her become her own little person. 🙂

This is her forced cheesin’ face…

Sometimes she holds up three fingers when attempting two…

Finally! She wore the hat for more than two seconds! It’s not that she doesn’t like the hat, I just don’t think she’s real into them yet..

And she’s done! Good job, Ally! Mama loves you times a million!!!

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
