Ally Is 18 Months

My little Ally bug turned 18 months this past Monday. It’s so hard to believe that she’s now on the downside of turning two. I know people say it all the time, but TIME FLIES when you have a little one…and it’s so true! One moment you’re pregnant, the next you have a newborn and the next you’re planning their second birthday! I may not be planning Ally’s second birthday quite yet, but I’m sure starting to think about it. 🙂

So in honor of my boo boos’ latest milestone, I thought I’d share some of her very first pictures. I initially intended to share pictures of her over the past 18 months, but because I took too many, there are too many to choose from and I can’t make decisions (haha). Looking back at pictures from the beginning was so calming. It reminded me that I love Ally beyond words (times a million, billion, trillion actually…that’s what I tell her everyday) and I am so happy we decided to have her. She’s been such a gift of joy to Brian and I and we cannot imagine our lives without her. We love watching her grow and are anxious to have another baby someday.

One cool thing I must mention before we get to the pictures is that Brian, Ally and myself all have the same birthday! Yeppers peppers, all born on December 11th! I thought it was pretty cool that Brian and I had the same birthday when we started dating, but never did I think our first child would also share our birthday! Ally was due December 17th and I was totally convinced she’d come late and be a Christmas baby. But my water broke the evening of the 10th and Ally was born at 12:48pm on the 11th. The nurses even brought us a cake and candles and sang us happy birthday. It’s a birthday we’ll never forget. 🙂

I didn’t take many belly pictures, but here’s one from the beginning at 20 weeks.

And here’s our first official family picture! Just hours after baby girl arrived!

Ally in her snazzy hospital hat. 🙂

Check out her mohawk. It was quite the attraction during her first week! I thank the nurses for that hairdo. 🙂

After day one, Brian and I were alone. Our families went back to their respective states and our friends did their visits during Ally’s first night. So it was just us after that. We woke Ally every 2-3 hours to eat and the rest of the time we just looked at her (and talked about how uncomfortable the sleeping arrangements were at the hospital, ha!). I’ll admit, I was a little intimidated by Ally as a newborn. I had never changed a diaper before!

This is one of my favorite newborn pictures of Ally! It looks like she’s laughing/smiling. And it’s totally similar to some of her laughing looks today.

Me and Ally, ready to go home!

I so very much enjoyed looking through these pictures and remembering that important and special time in our lives. I think I should definitely go through old pictures more often. My next intention will be on our fourth anniversary next month. I haven’t looked through our wedding pictures in years so it’ll be so cool to look back. I’ll be sharing those the week of July 4th so stay tuned. 🙂

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
