Album Design: Photojunction

I’m currently working on my first 2012 wedding album and thought I’d do a little post about what I use to design. As with many other photographers out there, I enjoy the album design part of my job because it’s a break from editing. It’s also a nice alternative to the usual display of wedding pictures on Facebook, blog posts and online galleries. The icing on the cake is when the album actually comes in the mail. It’s so neat to see my work in print, especially when its bound by beautiful leather and printed on clean, crisp pages. Ahhhh!!

I use Photojunction to design my album pages/spreads. I downloaded it when I first started my business, but didn’t really know how to use it until last year. It’s not 100% to my liking yet, but it’s definitely easier than designing individual pages elsewhere. It allows for clean and simple lines when it comes to album design and that’s totally my style! I’ve been able to create my own templates, save them and reuse them for all my projects, which is a HUGE time saver! It’s typically just a matter of dragging and dropping images! Until I find it more efficient and cost-worthy to outsource my album design, I’ll continue to use Photojunction.

SOME THINGS TO KNOW:

-You can download Photojunction for free!
-One of my fave photographers Melissa Jill offers great album templates to use with Photojunction
-Another great place to get affordable templates for Photojunction is Templates for Photographers
-And if you’re a photographer that doesn’t want to do your own album designing, consider Melissa Jill’s new Align Album Design services

Here are some page/spread examples of my recent designs. The first three were actually designed using Moirai Compositor, a script for Photoshop.  I eventually switched to Photojunction since I could save templates, purchase templates from photogs and I could design complete spreads instead of individual pages. The second three designs were made in Photojunction.

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
