get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Shelby called me about a week after getting engaged. This girl knew what she wanted. She had only known her soon-to-be hubs for a short while and she knew she didn’t want to wait too long to marry him. So she planned a May wedding in January and asked me to document it all. I was very excited to work with her because she was so excited! I met she and Randy for their COLD winter engagement session just days after they booked with me and it was one of the coolest sessions I’ve ever done! During their engagement session, they told me about their wedding day. They didn’t have a ton of details nailed down, but they did know they’d be getting married in a big field just down the road from where Shelby grew up. A wedding in a random field!? I was ready! Then I heard there would be about 400 people there! A wedding in a field with that many people!?! I was ready, excited and curious as to how they were going to pull it off. My mom and I both agreed that the wedding was beautiful and seemed very stress-free. For a wedding that was almost completely put together by family and friends of the couple at a place that’s not meant to host events, we were impressed. They put together a beautiful ceremony spot, decorated the tent and served their guests very well. It was an easy and delightful wedding, and I’m glad I was a part of it!
The first image of this blog post belongs to my mom. 🙂

Shelby and Randy used their engagement pictures in their invitation sets!
These were all handmade by Shelby’s friends in California! And yes, they traveled across the country to get to the wedding!
Shelby was pretty happy ALL DAY. 🙂
A favorite for me. 🙂
Randy and the guys got ready just a few miles down the road…
Randy and Shelby shared their first look in Shelby’s parents’ yard…
We took all the fun and formals ahead of time since Shelby and Randy wanted to get to their reception as quickly as possible…
We started the day at 9am, and it was sunny the whole time! So harsh sun was a challenge. While I did a lot of the fun and formals in the shade with some tree cover, I did try to embrace the harsh light, too…
I always encourage my wedding parties to have a little fun. 🙂
My mom captured the next two!
This one is a big favorite for me!
We took a few pictures in front of the beautiful and impressive wooden arbor that Randy made…
Isn’t it beautiful!?!?
Â
Bales of hay for seating!
I hadn’t been to a “circular ceremony” before…I thought it was pretty darn cool!
These two ladies win for “Cutest Wedding Guests”…don’t you just love their hats!? 🙂
I love that I captured this moment. 🙂

Â
Now for the LARGE tent and impressive reception presentation!
They had their guests sprinkle their exit with sprinkles…hearts and cows, to be exact! 🙂
The meat was cooked in the field as well…and you could smell it up the hill!
And they were showered with sprinkles. 🙂

CONGRATS Shelby and Randy! What a wonderful wedding you had! Thanks so much for having my mom and I! I hope we can take more pictures together in the future. 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
