get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
It doesn’t happen too often. You schedule an outdoor portrait session in winter and you know it’s probably going to be cold. But cold and snowy and beautiful!?! That hardly ever happens! I met Savanna and her hubs Phillip at the beautiful, wonderful Swallow Falls State Park in Garrett County, MD on Saturday morning. We had talked all week, watching the forecast and crossing fingers that the road conditions would be good if there was snow. Savanna assured me that they’d be fine making the trip even with a little snow on the ground so we kept our plans. And boy am I glad we did! Swallow Falls is beautiful on its own, but then blanket it with white fresh snow and it’s GORGEOUS! I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this place in snow two times before so I was prepped. Ski pants, hat, gloves, multiple layers of shirts, hand and foot warmers (I’m a wimp in the cold!). And while we all may have been a little more cold than comfortable at times, I think it was totally worth it! Thank you, Savanna and Phillip, for not only making the trip to Garrett County but for also braving the elements. It’s not everyday that you get maternity portraits in a beautiful forest with snow-covered trees and trails. These portraits are extra special in my eyes because of that…:)
I love the softness of Savanna’s face in the next few…
A favorite for me! That soft smile is just beautiful!
Snowflakes weren’t falling, as I had hoped, so I found a tree with lower branches and Phillip found a stick…and we made it snow! 🙂
A FAVORITE FOR SURE! I especially love how the snow seems to “circle” Savanna’s face. 🙂
Fun fact: The blanket Savanna is carrying is mine. It’s from Sucre, Bolivia where we sponsor a little boy named William. Savanna didn’t mind carrying it for extra warmth!
Some favorites in the next series…I just love the colors and the soft feel!
SO glad I spotted these snow-covered trees and the wonderful “frame” they created for the next series of pictures…
So snowy and wintery and wonderful!
FAVORITE!!!
Lastly, I showed Savanna and Phillip the falls. Brian and I actually got engaged at the top of these falls, so it’s a “magical” place. 😉 The falls were also frozen over, which was a beautiful site to see!
A final few portraits with a special belt handmade by Savanna’s friend. Pretty perfect for their expected baby girl!
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
