Ashley and Jared were married last summer at the beautiful Rocky Gap State Park, which lies right next to the Rocky Gap Casino & Resort in Western Maryland. I first met them in Garrett County for their engagement session when I took them to one of my favorite photo spots in the county (Accident Bear Creek Road) and invited them to my backyard for some extra portraits. I remember Ashley and Jared being easy to work with then and I was reminded of that all over again on their wedding day.

From the moment I stepped into the suite where Ashley and her girls were getting dressed to the moment I was saying my final goodbyes, I just felt so much goodness and sweetness from these two. They trusted me to choose photo locations, line everyone up as needed and never seemed to worry when it came to picture-taking. They were calm, confident and flashed us plenty of beautiful smiles.

I got in the car at the end of the night and told my second shooter Kristin, “Man that was an easy day!” Ashley and Jared, thank you for that! Thank you for not only inviting me to be a part of your beautiful wedding (I especially loved all the soft pink!), but for being so darn easy on the wedding day! As a hard-working, two-places-at-once, try-to-do-it-all, nearly-a-perfectionist photographer, I so very much appreciate your calm, kind attitudes on the wedding day. Seriously, the day was a breeze!

The brightness of the sun, the softness of the colors and Ashley and Jared’s sweetness was the perfect wedding day combination!

They live in West Virginia and Jared attended WVU, so this garter was appropriate!

These two guys were our sidekicks for the afternoon. We took them to hang out with the guys and then returned them to their mama who was a bridesmaid…

Now for all the reception goodies! Sarah and Rebecca of Sarah K Events did a wonderful job decorating and helping make things happen at the reception…

Their tent looked beautiful! So much natural light pouring in…the drapery on the ceiling…the gray and soft pink colors! Just beautiful!

   

Ashley’s dad was a just a big teddy bear of hugs and tears that day. You could tell he loved and admired Ashley so much!

         

Not long before we took these sunset pictures, a HUGE storm rolled through. We saw it coming on the radar, but the winds and clouds didn’t pick up until the last-minute. The tent rattled, tables fell over and water spilled into the dance floor. I never saw or heard Ashley and Jared complain or worry or get frustrated…not once! And Sarah and Rebecca did an especially wonderful job handling the damage of the storm and keeping everyone happy. I was so impressed by everyone! 

 

What a lovely wedding day, don’t you all agree!?! Thanks again, Ashley and Jared! I’d work with you on a wedding day again any day!
