get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
We had been trying to get together for their engagement session since December. They’re in Virginia and I’m in Maryland, which was our first obstacle. But then trying to find a time when all three of us were available in the same place…that was an even bigger obstacle! But, finally, it happened! Last weekend during one of my visits to Bridgewater, I met up with Rachel and Shawn at Shawn’s parents’ house for their engagement session. Because their wedding is less than a month away (May 17th is the big day!), I thought for sure we wouldn’t be able to make it happen…but I am SO GLAD we did!
I think all three of us left the session feeling so much more confident about our ability to capture awesome pictures together on the wedding day. Naturally, Rachel and Shawn were nervous about stepping in front of the camera and were pretty convinced that they’d be “bad at it.” But like I tell all my couples, unless you’re a model, you’re not supposed to be good at it! Making you good at it is my job! 🙂
Well, I didn’t need to do much work with these two…they actually seemed pretty comfortable and natural in the front of the camera after just a short time of shooting! So Rachel and Shawn, no worries. I think you did wonderfully during your session and are going to do even better on your wedding day! Engagement sessions make such great practice…and are definitely a great confidence-booster for brides and grooms. I hope you guys are ready for the wedding, Rachel and Shawn!!! Enjoy. 🙂
Avery and Charlie (the dogs) were more interested in running around Shawn’s parents’ property, so they didn’t make it in as many pictures as we thought, but I’m glad they made at least a few appearances for some family photos…
Uh oh, Rachel can pull off the “model look”!! 🙂
I LOVE this next series! Capturing natural, happy, interactive pictures of my subjects is always a goal of mine…
Just being cute and natural. 🙂
Forsythia bushes are one of my favorite things in spring!!!
I love the soft, sweet feel of this portrait…
A session favorite for me!
Favorites!!
A great way to end the session. 🙂
Rachel and Shawn, I am so glad we were able to make the engagement session happen! You guys did great in front of the camera and are going to do so well again on the wedding day! I’m so glad we had this practice and it was really nice hanging out. See you in May!!!
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
