get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
As expected, fall was busy with portrait sessions. I had a nice mixture of newborn, maternity, engagement and family portraits during the season, and that’s what you’ll see in today’s “session groups” blog post!
All three of these sessions took place in West Virginia in October and the first two are actually connected! Mom Julie, who you’ll see first, is mom Amy’s sister, who you’ll see in the second set of pictures. Amy gifted her sister a newborn session and also signed up for her own maternity and newborn session at the same time. Such a sweet gift from a sister, and it was so neat getting to know both of the ladies.
First up, Luna’s newborn portraits…and a furry friend who wanted to be included just as much as baby! 🙂
On guard! I think Luna is going to have more than a set of parents looking after her in that house! 🙂
A diaper wreath! I had never seen one before! Ladies sure to get creative for baby showers these days. 🙂
Family of four…
I love the combination of light pouring in through the windows and all the colors!
Luna slept very little during the session, but that was okay because she was quite content…
Luna was the first to use my latest photography prop find…this beautiful quilt that I found at a local church bazaar for $35! Such a steal, and so pretty.
Luna finally fell asleep at the very end of the session…
How cute is this little hat? Hand-knit by her Aunt Amy!
This is Amy! Isn’t she a stunning mama-to-be! Her son was born in January, so I’ve also already done her newborn session. (But look for that in a post later this month) For now, we’ll show off her beautiful smile and baby bump!
Amy pulled off the model look so well!
I must be such a funny photog. 🙂
Such a favorite! That smirk, the leaves, the quilted blanket, the colors… 🙂
The sun started to come out as soon as we got to this bridge (part of Valley Falls State Park in Fairmont, WV) and it made the perfect glow for this next series of portraits…
Black and white or color? I could not decide.
I also decided to whip out the 70-200 2.8 L lens for these portraits and am SO GLAD I did! Look at that creaminess…and the bokeh! If you have this lens and don’t use it for portraits, give it a try! And if you’re looking for a new portrait lens, give it a try! 🙂
These next two are BIG TIME favorites! I love the connection between Derrick and Amy, the colors, the light, the creaminess and the bokeh…
Gettin’ serious!!
Some grand pictures with the falls before ending the session…
And third for this blog post, the Olgers family! The last time I photographed them they were early in their marriage with no kiddos. Now they have Hunter and just built a home together. I wonder what will be next for them!?! 😉
Coopers Rock was looking good that day! Lots of pretty leaves and sunshine! And the plaid quilt makes another appearance! It’s definitely a must-bring for my sessions.
I think Hunter was looking at daddy. 🙂
Love this one of father and son. 🙂
Hunter gave me so many different faces that day!
A huge THANK YOU to all of these guys for inviting me to capture your families! I know things have changed for all of you since taking these pictures in the fall so I hope things are going well and you’re looking forward to the warmer months with your little ones! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
