get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
I didn’t meet Natalie and John until two months before their wedding. They booked me last year but opted to not do an engagement session. So when it came time to put together the photography schedule for their day, Natalie asked if we could meet in person to do it…and I was happy she did so! I don’t prefer to not meet my couples before their wedding day, but sometimes meeting isn’t possible. And if they trust me enough to make things happen via email and phone, I trust them, too. But meeting beforehand always helps the situation and I’m so glad Natalie, John and I had that opportunity, even without an engagement session. ๐
Natalie emailed me two weeks before the wedding and was concerned with the rain in the forecast. I encouraged her to not believe the forecast until at least two days before because in my past experiences, the forecast will change many times and could look completely different from one day to the next. I was half convinced there wouldn’t be rain on their wedding day because the early forecast said otherwise, but I was wrong. It rained a lot on Natalie and John’s wedding day. Umbrellas were carried and photo plans were changed. But thankfully, Natalie and John remained calm throughout the whole ordeal and we walked away with plenty of pictures!
Thank you, Natalie and John, for not only taking the time to meet with me before your wedding, but for also keeping positive, calm spirits despite the rain. ๐
The day started in Natalie’s bedroom, which made a lovely space for getting ready pictures. The window light was a blessing and I loved seeing all her framed pictures throughout. #printyourpictures ๐
ย Natalie made a beautiful bride…and the light in her room was amazing! So we took plenty of bridal portraits…
A favorite for me! The window light + the reflection from the bed comforter = AWESOME portrait spot!!!
LOVE these next two! ๐
I also spotted some good window light in the living room…
Thanks to my second shooter Kristin for capturing this one!
Thankfully, it didn’t rain the entire day…
Then we headed to Pittsburgh to meet the guys! I’ve been working hard on making sure the groom’s details get fair styling just like the bride’s details. The groom is important too, right!?! ๐
A groom with pink socks!? High five, John! ๐
Love this groom portrait. ๐
The ceremony took place at the beautiful Duquesne Chapel on Duquesne University’s campus…
This grandma gave me plenty of “grandma picture” opportunities! ๐
Such beautiful architecture!
I love a good, wide balcony shot!
It rained the whole time we were outside in Pittsburgh trying to take pictures! Thank goodness for umbrellas, outdoor spaces with indoor coverings, and a bride and groom willing to roll with the punches. ๐
This was my first visit to the Pittsburgh Convention Center. Natalie chose it as their “rain location” and I didn’t completely understand why at first…until I saw this!
SO MANY COLORS! I love color! ๐
I think this was my first time using my new camera….the Canon 5D Mark III. Even though this space was lit with changing colors, it was still dark. Thankful for the Mark III’s ISO capabilities. ๐
Celebration time!!! Natalie and John’s guests certainly knew how to party! ๐
What’s a Pittsburgh wedding without the traditional cookie table??
And a popcorn bar! This celebration was filled with sweets! And I had my fair share of samples. ๐
There goes grandma! She’ll appear one more time… ๐
Might be my best “grandma picture” ever! ๐
CONGRATS, Natalie and John…and thanks for having me! ๐
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it moreโฆand plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
Iโm not sure Iโm starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesdayโฆ

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
