get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Now that I’m a Garrett County, MD resident, I’ve come to find that it’s a fairly popular place to get married. Out-of-towners who want a bit of a “destination wedding” without going to the beach or some place tropical find it appealing. Frequent lake vacationers who fall in love with the area and see it as a special place also find it attractive as a place for their wedding. Like Megan and Jeff!
Megan had been vacationing at the lake with her family for some time. They’re from the Pittsburgh area, so it’s a short two-hour trip. She enjoyed the area so much that she and fiance Jeff decided to make it their wedding destination! And I was so happy to work with them. They were super friendly, incredibly easy-going, they trusted me completely and photography was important to them – pretty much an ideal couple! It rained during the first half of their day, which meant the outdoor mountaintop ceremony got moved inside, but Megan and Jeff were totally fine with it! We were still able to get outdoor portraits after the ceremony and everyone stayed dry. Despite the minor change in plans, it was a successful day. 🙂
Megan’s veil was made from some lace from her late mother’s wedding dress. Such an extra special touch. 🙂
While my mom stayed back with the girls, I went to hang out with the guys. And they were in true hanging-out-before-the-wedding fashion. Sports on TV, a few drinks to enjoy and plenty of laughs to share…
And Megan had a special gift for Jeff!
I just love the next two flower girl pictures. 🙂
Megan wanted me to capture this private moment between she and her dad…
Jeff and his guy had a few sweet moments with his dad before the ceremony…
I love the BIG windows inside the Wisp lodge! They make for such a beautiful backdrop and provide some awesome light! My mom captured this one…
I’m so glad I made the decision to start bringing a second shooter/assistant with me to every wedding. Not only do I have someone to help me carry my equipment, grab batteries, coral people and get me a half Diet Coke-half Coke, but I also have someone to sneak away and look for different angles. My mom was able to find an overlook for the next few shots…
Thankfully the rain stopped so we could head outside for pictures! The beautiful mountain and beautiful light behind us. 🙂
We were pressed for time at this point! Storm clouds were rolling in and we had to move fast! I did not want these two getting drenched before their reception!
When you’re at a ski resort, it’s only appropriate to take some pictures on the chairlift!
So many beautiful portraits of Megan on the lift…it was hard deciding which to choose!
We made it back to the lodge just in time! No rain drops while we were outside, but minutes after we went inside, it POURED!
The beautiful cake and cupcakes were made by my friend Laura of Lolita’s Cupcreations in Morgantown, WV. Not only is her stuff delicious, but it’s beautiful!
These out-of-towners really knew how to party!
Megan and Jeff, what a great day! Thanks so much for having me, and for being so enjoyable to work with! I hope you’re loving life together in PA and let me know if you’re ever up for some visiting (or more pictures!) when you’re back down in Garrett County! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
