get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Leah contacted me in late spring wanting a summer portrait session. Technically, I wasn’t booking sessions until late summer at the time, but because of her enthusiasm and cool ideas for the session, I just had to squeeze her in. And I’m so glad I did! I met Leah, her husband Andrew and their dog Wilkie (I hope I’m spelling that right!) at the super cool, super new Blue Moon Rising at Deep Creek Lake. I had heard about the uniqueness of this place, but had never visited, so I was glad I finally had a reason to do so! Blue Moon Rising has labeled themselves as “eco-friendly” and offer “green vacations” for those looking for a unique and different stay at the lake. Have you seen the latest tiny house craze on TV? That’s exactly what’s at Blue Moon! Within the lush mountainside that overlooks lake sits an enchanting community of tiny cabins made mostly of reclaimed, recycled and eco-friendly materials. They are the cutest and neatest thing, and I’m so glad I got to explore. 🙂 Leah and Andrew were nice enough to invite me to their cabin, which was perfect for the start of their portrait session. We took pictures around the cabin and through the cabin community. And we appropriately ended with some portraits on the dock at the lake! Enjoy this super unique, super cool portrait session! 🙂
Leah and Andrew stayed at the “Moonshadow” cabin. There was both an indoor and outdoor shower, the kitchen and living space were one, and a partial wall separated the living space from the bed, which didn’t really have a separate room. It was snug, but Leah and Andrew said they enjoyed it…and I don’t think I’d mind giving it a try sometime, too! Maybe without the kids, though. 🙂
Of course the dogs always have to be the point focus at some time throughout the session. 🙂

There was a big hammock surrounded by ferns just outside their cabin…
While Leah and Andrew closed up the cabin, I took some pictures of the surrounding…
Â
Aren’t the tiny cabins so cute!?!
Â
I love how you can see Leah and Andrew going in for a tighter grasp in this picture. 🙂
Couldn’t pass up this view of the lake!
These next few were taken outside Blue Moon Rising’s main building…
The roof has grass and plants growing on it! So fitting!
Now for some lake action! And thankfully, we were there at just the right time. No one on the docks and some beautiful, glowy sunset light!
Leah and Andrew also changed into some snazzy outfits. 🙂
Â
Â
Can you see Leah’s shoes? She painted them herself! She’s an artist!
Â
Can you tell that Wilkie spotted something interested on shore?? 🙂
Ah, the glow! And their cute-ness. 🙂
Â
This angle shows off Leah’s shoes and hair!
So much glowy goodness to work with!
Leah requested a picture in front of this door at Blue Moon…
Â
Thank you, Leah and Andrew, for letting me be a part of your super cool vacation at Deep Creek! I am so glad I got to explore Blue Moon Rising with you guys! I hope you enjoyed Deep Creek…and maybe you’ll be back for more someday?? 😉
P.S. Anyone looking for something different to do this summer, I highly recommend considering Blue Moon Rising’s tiny cabins!
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
