Kyrra: Senior Portraits, Morgantown, WV Photographer

Earlier this year, I decided to temporarily concentrate on weddings, engagements, maternity and newborn sessions only. I was trying to find my niche and trying to produce my best work at all times. But then I started to miss the seniors, kids and families that I used to photograph. So for now, I’ve decided to accept a limited number of senior, kid and family portrait sessions to make sure I really do find the right niche for me. Good thing my first decision was deemed a temporary one. πŸ™‚

Kyrra was my first senior of 2013. She’s graduating from Morgantown High this May and plans to study Art and Psychology in college. The Wharf District in downtown Morgantown was the perfect place for her session. We used the old bridge at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park, the “abandoned” area on the other side of the restaurants and the parking garage. Yes, we used the parking garage. We were able to find a large empty space with some beautiful natural light and I think it fit Kyrra nicely. I love when my clients completely trust me and present a style that lets me explore new places. It makes me a better photographer. πŸ™‚

Here are some of my favorites from Kyrra’s session…

Definitely a favorite of the faves! πŸ™‚ Really shows off Kyrra’s unique, edgy and trendy style!

See! Didn’t we make this parking garage look beautiful!?! OK, maybe the concrete floors, walls and ceilings aren’t as BEAUTIFUL as bright flowers and colorful rainbows, but they’re definitely a super cool backdrop for portraits. πŸ™‚

I loved showing off Kyrra’s hair colors!

Parking garages look good in black and white. πŸ™‚

I also really loved showing off Kyrra’s accessories. I think they’re part of who she is and what she likes…and being a senior is all about celebrating that. πŸ™‚

Kyrra laid on the cold brick road in 50 degree temperatures for me! Yeesss!!! And thank you, Kyrra. πŸ™‚

I love the shallow depth of field in this one! Definitely a benefit to shooting wide open with a fast lens!

Kyrra, you totally rock the black and white!

Another favorite of the favorites for me!

Again, rockin’ the black and whites. πŸ™‚

Kyrra, thanks so much for taking the time to search for your photographer and noticing my style. I really enjoyed working with you and I hope you had fun during the session! Thanks for humoring all my ideas, including the parking garage and brick road. I wish you the best of luck in your final days as a high school student and in your first days as a college student. Have fun! πŸ™‚

Loving the black and whites! She definitely rocked the locations!

Thank you Jessica! I thought the ones in front of the door belong on an album cover (if we still had those). Great job! Laura (Kyrra’s mom)

I always meet people down in the same area for pics because the backdrops are so diverse and fun πŸ™‚

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
