get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Guess what!?! This engagement session took place just a few weeks ago! That’s right! This session didn’t happen months ago like many of the pictures you’ve been seeing on the blog lately. I’ve successfully made it through my huge blogging catch-up list and I feel so relieved! I want to be able to edit a session or wedding almost immediately after shooting it and then share it on the blog as quickly as possible. This is definitely the start of something good. 🙂 Julia and Roy work at two of the state parks here in Garrett County, MD – Swallow Falls and New Germany. I’ve been to Swallow Falls many times, but haven’t yet visited New Germany. But that all will change this fall when Julia and Roy use it as host to their October wedding. The festivities will take place in the park’s Lake House that has a view of the lake and true rustic charm with a fireplace log details. AND they’re getting married during what should be peak for the fall leaves in Garrett County. It’s going to be a beautiful wedding! Julia and Roy did so well during their engagement session. In fact, they seemed pretty comfortable in front of the camera almost immediately! When I can easily make my clients laugh…when we can easily have conversation…when I can easily direct and pose them…I know we were a good match! 🙂 Enjoy my favorites from their session!
Â
I love these next two pictures! They’re some of my favorites from the session and they happened within the first couple of minutes!
Â
Rosie was definitely trying to steal the spotlight! 🙂
Anytime I asked Julia and Roy to kiss, Rosie tried to get in on the action!
These two were just so smiley and so friendly. 🙂
Â
Julia’s pretty smile and blonde hair make for a lovely combination!
Â
I loved seeing Julia and Roy laughing and smiling so much. They were having fun, and that was a good feeling!
Then we visited the Jennings Randolph Lake. I had never been there before so Julia and Roy quickly gave me the lowdown. It’s much less crowded than Deep Creek Lake and when the leaves are on the trees and the water is blue, it’s even more picturesque than it was the evening of their session…
Â
Rosie stealing the show again!
I asked Julia to try a serious, model look and she did so well at helping to make these next two pictures romantic and moody. 🙂
This is a session favorite for me!
Â
On our way up their road to take pictures with some spring blooms, Julia asked if we could stop at this field…
A HUGE favorite!!! I love the happiness of this picture!
The county wasn’t yet in bloom, but the forsythia was out and shining brightly! When I spotted this location along the road, I knew we needed to give it a try. With the right composition and angle, I made it seem like they were completely surrounded by spring prettiness! Truth is, this was just a small gathering of blooms…
Their second outfits went so well with the yellow blooms!
Â
They were pretty good at snuggling up, too. 🙂
Â
Julia and Roy, thank you so much for inviting me to your neck of the woods in Garrett County! I was so happy to meet you and I am so pleased at how well the session went! I’m super excited for your fall wedding and cannot wait to see what we’ll capture next time! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
