get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
My 2012 wedding season officially started one week ago. Yes, it started with a Thursday wedding (who’s been to a Thursday wedding!?!) and you can read why in Johana and David’s engagement session post. And honestly, it was a great way to start the season. I didn’t have to give up any part of my weekend and the venue was 10 minutes down the road! Now I don’t mind working on the weekends and doing some traveling for my weddings, but after four months of no weddings, it made for a pleasant transition back into the bread and butter of my biz.
One thing I wish I would have done before Johana and David’s wedding was LEARN SPANISH! I have learned Spanish, but it’s sort of like math…if you don’t use it, you lose it. I studied Spanish for years in grade school and middle school, four straight years in high school (even had a solo class my senior year), two years in college that included an intensive two-week course at the Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Mexico. So at one time, I knew a lot of Spanish and could actually speak and read it pretty well. A few more months in Mexico and I’m convinced I would have been near fluent! Anyways, I felt really badly that I couldn’t communicate with Johana’s family, but it was fun re-learning some of the Spanish basics. Her brother was also able to translate for everyone…such a relief!
Here are some of my favorites from Johana and David’s chilly, yet beautiful April wedding at the Lakeview Resort in Morgantown!
Johana’s GORGEOUS bouquet against a backdrop of Cheat Lake and mountainous West Virginia!
Not sure I’ve ever had light pink bridesmaid dresses. Maybe that’s why I loved the flowing pink-ness of these so much!
This just sort of happened accidentally and it’s one of my favorite pictures from the day.
Johana was just beaming! Love these dad-walking-daughter-down-the-aisle pictures. 🙂
Our golf cart escort took us to the 17th hole to show off a somewhat “secret” photo spot at the resort. Not only do you get the beautiful greens, but the lake and mountains in the background, too! Add that to the beautiful setting sunlight and SCORE!
Very appropriate cake topper! American and Colombian!
The ballroom featured a grand wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that showed off the spectacular lake and mountain view! Not to mention the beautiful light that stuck around for some great reception shots. 🙂
Such a party-rockin’ kind of shot! I love experimenting with the DJ lights. 🙂
One of my most favorite ring shots EVER! Thank you new 100 2.8 macro lens. 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
