get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Today’s post is a personal one. I have a few of these saved up for my maternity leave and “downtime”, even though things like the 10-year reunion happened two months ago! Better late than never, of course. 🙂
I attended Geibel Catholic High School. The classes were small and the student community was strong. There was about 300 students total in grades nine through twelve and 62 students total in my graduating class. I had good friends in my class as well as the classes before and after. It was easy to have “crossover” from class to class, making good friends and strong connections with more than just those who sat next to you in homeroom. With smaller numbers, we had more opportunity to really connect, no matter what our ages, classes or interests. Think of it like a buffet. If you have less options, you become very familiar with a large majority. The Geibel buffet wasn’t huge, but the smaller amount of choices resulted in a large community of friends…some of which I’m still connected with today…
Such connections allowed a combined, three-class 10-year reunion to be a great success at the end of last year. I put together a five-year reunion for my class in 2009 where we had about 25 people in attendance. Some classmates requested something “bigger and better” for our 10-year, so I combined ideas with the classes of ’02 and ’03, and we all agreed that combining our efforts and putting together one big event would be beneficial and appropriate. So on the day after Thanksgiving, the Geibel Catholic classes of ’02, ’03 and ’04 got together for an official reunion event! It probably doesn’t sound too normal for most high school classes, but it worked for us. We had a full room with many different personalities, but people really seemed to “come together” and not allow a couple years of class difference stand in the way of a good time. I loved seeing little groups form and unexpected conversations occur. I’d say our event was a great success and I hope other Geibel classes will consider doing the same in the future!
Thanks to everyone that came to the reunion! We hope you had a wonderful time and enjoyed connecting with both old and new friends. 🙂
Yearbooks were shared throughout the evening! So neat to look back and see how people have changed in just ten years!
I painted all the signs. I knew we couldn’t go without some homemade decor! Reminds me of the walls in the gymnasium at Geibel when the cheerleaders would paint signs for the athletes and school teams…
If you went to Geibel, you know who Leo is. 🙂 If you went to Geibel anytime between 2002 and 2005/6, you probably know what this means! 🙂
Jason and I were best buds in high school! He moved to Florida after high school to become a pilot and he’s still there working as a flight instructor. He comes home to PA 1-2 times a year and I’m happy to say we’ve seen each other during almost all of his visits!
Some of my good friends from my class…class of ’04!
Brian and I have a huge lacking of pictures together, especially from the past few years…so this was much-needed! 🙂
There we are! The official reunion planning committee! Thanks for all your help, guys! I especially enjoyed our Facebook chats. 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
