I USUALLY START WITH THE WEATHER...
It's been a frustrating time for weather in Deep Creek most recently. We went from HOT (upper 80s here) to humidity + storms. It was so hard to know if it would rain and when.
And here's a tip when trying predict the weather around here: don't. If you must though, wait until the day before...sometimes an hour or two before is best. Because if there's a chance of rain, it might not rain, or it might not be a washout. Or it might be a blue sky + white clouds day.
You still may want to bring a hoodie. The evenings can get chilly.
SWIMMING AT THE LAKE
I saw someone ask in a local Facebook group where they can take a dip in the lake. There's one place: DCL State Park. This is where you can find the ONLY public access to the water. The beach area in particular is very nice! Bathrooms, playgrounds, picnic tables, nice sand area, roped off area for swimming and kayak + SUP rentals.
AND DON'T FORGET...SWALLOW FALLS STATE PARK NOW REQUIRES RESERVATIONS ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
You can read all about it here and link to where you'll make online reservations.
Yes this feels like a big inconvenience but I've been to the park on a busy day when the overflow parking is overflowing and the visits become challenging.
