I USUALLY START WITH THE WEATHER...

One thing I've been reminded of recently: If it's 100 degrees elsewhere, it's probably only 85 here.

We are cooler than our neighbors...usually by about 10-15 degrees. I heard of some people coming here over the 4th last-minute simply because our upper 80 temperatures were a relief compared to home.

And a reminder for you: Just because there's a little rain or storm icon in the weather forecast doesn't mean your Deep Creek trip is a complete washout and have to resort to indoor only activities. You cannot believe the forecast a week out, peeps. 

You still may want to bring a hoodie. The evenings can get chilly.

CURRENTLY SITTING IN CANOE ON THE RUN...

As I put this week's update together. Good oatmeal, really love their chili omelette. There's also Black Hawk Coffee + Kitchen nearby for another morning option, indoor and outdoor seating. Trader's Coffee House is a few more minutes down the road and they're now serving up Trader's Brew Bar on the patio at Ace's Run.

AND DON'T FORGET...SWALLOW FALLS STATE PARK NOW REQUIRES RESERVATIONS ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.

Yes this feels like a big inconvenience but I've been to the park on a busy day when the overflow parking is overflowing and the visits become challenging.
