While hiding out at every proposal spot, I practice my shot and get my settings right…and sometimes I capture a pretty scenic photo in the process…

This was the first time I photographed a proposal at Swallow Falls waterfall. When the water is low, this spot is accessible…and really, the exposed sand is key when getting down in front of Swallow for a photo. If the water level is high, this waterfall rages and the kayakers relish in it.

I knew we could be challenged with midday light…sun shining brightly on THE spot, shade casting over the waterfall, THE backdrop. But it was a near-perfect backlight situation and the muted fall colors were especially complementary…and they paired well with Brooke and Greg’s outfits…

When there are dogs, they’re always the star of the show. And yes, dogs welcome at proposals!

After we hung out in the Swallow Falls waterfall area, we headed back up the trail for a little walk (I love capturing movement)…

This proposal took place in late October, so muted fall leaves were present. It was also a weekday, so very few people were present. When proposing in a popular place like this, I suggest timing it right so we get as much privacy as possible…and so I don’t have to direct traffic while also trying to capture the moment, ha!
