Today is a very special day! Yes, it’s the two-week mark ’til Christmas, but it’s also a well-celebrated day in the Fike house. It’s our birthdays! Brian, Ally and myself were all born on December 11th! We’re a 1 in 133,000 kind of family and we’ve been that way for three years now…ever since our little stink was born! In case you don’t know how this “trifecta” came to be, let me share our story…

One night in 2005, Brian and I were out with college friends and discovered that we had the same birthday. I don’t think he was as excited about the commonality as much as I was, but it stuck with me and I knew I had to pursue him! I mean, c’mon, both born on December 11th!?! I’m pretty sure I had never met any other December 11th birthdays up until then, so it was pretty darn cool in my book!

Fast forward almost seven years, after we dated, after we got engaged and married, and we find out we’re pregnant! And when was my due date!?! December 17th! But I wasn’t thinking too much about baby coming on the 11th. I was pretty convinced that he/she would come on Christmas Day and make things a little complicated. Let’s face it…who wants to be in the hospital on Christmas Day? And who wants to have a birthday on Christmas? No one.

Little Miss Ally stink had other plans, though. She wanted to make us a super cool little family and come on December 11th just like her mama and daddy. She was six days early, came on her own and now we celebrate all three of our family’s birthdays on the same day! Good thing baby #2 isn’t due until February. We need a break! 😉

I think what’s craziest about all this is that Ally is THREE YEARS OLD…ALREADY! Man, TIME FLIES!!! Just a few short years ago we were welcoming her into the world…

Then she turned one and entered the toddler years…

Then she got a little sass and started her little girl-ness when she turned two…

And now she’s a little big girl that is three! She goes to preschool, talks all the time, has good manners, loves princesses and “sparklies”, and can do a lot of things on her own…

Here’s Ally last night after we gave her her birthday outfit and this morning all ready for school with her hot pink cookies…

What a difference three years makes, huh??

This year, we’re celebrating with family dinner at a favorite local restaurant and then a princess party on Saturday with our closest family members. Oh, and we celebrated Brian’s 30th birthday with a surprise party for him this past weekend! Definitely a lot of goodness to celebrate. 🙂

So Happy Birthday to my sweet little stinker butt Ally and my hubster Brian! I wouldn’t want to share my special day with anyone but you two! And sorry this post isn’t more about you turning 30, honey. If I had some baby pictures to relive your younger days, you know I’d include them. 😉
