get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Since beginning my business in 2009, I’ve learned that networking is a key component in JFP’s success. Because I don’t pay for advertising or marketing, or only a very small amount if an opportunity arises, I need to do the advertising and marketing myself, and find others who can help me along the way.
So I get out there, meet new people and talk with them about my business. I find out what’s going on in the wedding industry or in the neighborhood and I share about what exactly I do as a photographer. I let them know I’m around, I help them with images for their website or portfolio, and I offer to refer when I’m able. Take, for example, the Blush and Blueberry Style Shoot that took place last summer. Nicole reached out to me about teaming up, I took a chance and met with her, and together, we were able to not only build her portfolio, but reach out to other photographers with a learning opportunity. That one meeting with Nicole turned into quite the networking opportunity for me! (And bonus: Nicole and I are now friends. 🙂 )
Such networking turns into relationships and conversation about JFP throughout the people I’ve met, and in turn, creates ongoing advertising and marketing for my biz. It’s really the best kind of advertising and marketing, too! What do you trust more when buying a product or service? The advertisement on a billboard or positive feedback from a friend with personal experience? I personally look to friends and family.
Most recently, I met Yohana Williams of Yohana Williams Wedding Planning in Morgantown, WV. She’s a dreamer with big ideas and a “go get ’em attitude”, so I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her over the past few months. She is teaming up with another Morgantown business, The Beauty Bar, for a bridal event and invited me to join! I love being out and about, exploring new ideas and the latest happenings, and chatting it up with people…so attending events is tons of fun for me…and beneficial for my biz!
So tomorrow, March 5th, I’ll be at The Beauty Bar in Morgantown for their “Evening of Bridal Bliss” event. Free hair and makeup consults will be available for brides, stylists will showcase ideas, manis and pedis can be scheduled, and Yohana will be present to share wedding planning advice. I’ll also be there to talk about wedding photography, answer questions and take pictures of the brides having a good time and enjoying some new hair and makeup styles! There will also be free food and drinks, and brides are invited to bring their moms and girlfriends! Definitely sounds like a fun night out!
I’m looking forward to meeting new people, chatting with brides and hopefully doing some beneficial advertising and marketing for JFP! Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of the event, Yohana! I’m very thankful for our networking! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
