I have a grand idea for the future of JFP that needs to be tested throughout the course of a few years, so I’m starting now by offering something new and quite different for both my photography style and business. This grand idea would involve lots of time, commitment, hard work, creativity and money, so I want to make sure it’s the right idea for JFP.

So here’s test #1 for JFP’s grand idea for the future…A Valentine “day of sessions” for the kids! After a busy September-December season with families wanting fall and Christmas pictures, I started brainstorming about the next special day or season that might prompt more families. I wanted a way to serve lots of people, but I wanted it to be unique and maybe a little unexpected…with a special gift! So for these special sessions, we’ll be meeting in the Chestnut Ridge Church chapel (in the Cheat Lake area of Morgantown, WV) that’s filled with big windows, lots of natural light and a big wooden stage…without pews and other church-like elements. It’ll make for a great studio-ish kind of setting without actually being a studio.

These Valentine portraits will be filled with various handmade heart garland, festive necklaces, Valentine crafts, and other Valentine goodies for kids to play with during their session. And here’s the special gift…instead of just receiving a session and a flash drive of images, kids will also receive an accessory of their choosing from my friend Kendra at The Yellow Penguin! Valentine headbands, hair clips, bow ties and ties…there’ll be something for everyone! The accessories can be worn during the session and then taken home as an added bonus!

What do you think? Not the kind of pictures you’d expect from a chapel, right? But it doesn’t look like a typical chapel…and these won’t be your typical studio portraits. I want natural, light-hearted and unique portraits! I plan to make some heart garland for the background and have a small white table, pink chair and red chair available as well. And don’t worry, if you don’t think your kids will be into sitting and smiling for the camera, I have Valentine craft supplies to help put them in their child-like element. 🙂

-Monday, January 21st at Chestnut Ridge Church chapel
-30 minutes of session time
-Online gallery of collection images for viewing, sharing and ordering prints
-Flash drive of images with reprint rights release
-One accessory per child from The Yellow Penguin
-$150 plus sales tax, $50 deposit needed to reserve spot
