get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
This engagement session wasn’t a typical session for me. I almost always shoot just before sunset for optimal light and I try to avoid areas with lots of people. Well, Lisa and Josh’s session included the opposites of both! Because Lisa and Josh were only in town for a short time with lots of wedding things to do and because I had a wedding to attend (as a guest!), we got together when all three of us were available…in the middle of the afternoon on a nice-weather day at a local park. Nice-weather day + local park = not-so-flattering sunlight and people! BUT we worked around both elements and made it work!
I love when a couple takes time to do an engagement session, especially when they’re living states away. Coopers Rock allowed us to escape the harsh sunlight and crowds of people with its many locations…the overlook, roadside trails, plenty of tall trees. I was so happy to finally explore the state forest and was glad we could incorporate Lisa and Josh’s hobby of being outdoors and hiking. AND Coopers Rock is where they’ll be having their ceremony, so it really ended up being a perfect session. 🙂
I LOVED Lisa’s flower so I tried to show it off as much as possible! Definitely a great accessory in my book!
Harsh sunlight, you didn’t stop us!! Thank you Coopers Rock for having tons of tree-covered areas!
Two of my favorites from the session coming up next…
This is the area where their ceremony will take place! Hopefully we’ll be able to recreate some similar pictures when they’re all dressed in their wedding attire!
Change of clothes and a change of scenery! This area didn’t have any tree cover, but the small field of yellow wildflowers was totally worth overlooking that…
So romantical, right!?! 🙂
It was only appropriate that we hit some hiking trails for these outdoor lovers. Aren’t their hiking boots so cute!?!
Aren’t Lisa and Josh so cute!?! I cannot wait to go back to Coopers Rock for their ceremony next month! They’ll be celebrating on the rooftop of a local hotel, so it’s going to be a great wedding all around! Thanks for a great session, Lisa and Josh! And thanks a million for taking time out from your super busy visiting weekend to meet with me. I think we’re going to make a great team on the big day!
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

These pictures are gorgeous!! The ones of them in their hiking clothes on the hiking trail so totally reminded Jason and I of our engagement session with you on our hiking trail!!
Definitely similar to yours and Jason’s session, Heather! The hiking-type locations usually end up being a favorite for me. 🙂
beautiful location! and i love the relaxed look of the hiking shots!
Thanks, Courtney! Relaxed is often the goal, so it’s good to know it comes through in the pictures. 🙂
