get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Fun fact: This is my 500th post! How cool is that?? I didn’t realize that I was starting to get close to 500 until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed my post count hit 490. I was actually sort of hoping the launch of my new site, blog and rebrand would be he 500th post, but we’re still a few weeks away from that. So Cally and Ben’s engagement session will have to fill those shoes. 🙂 These two booked me for their October wedding last year! We did everything through email and snail mail, and knew we wouldn’t meet until their engagement session. When Cally told me they’d be willing to come to Garrett County from Frederick, MD, I was excited and grateful. Excited that I’d get to show another couple around our beautiful area, but also grateful for their willingness to come to me. Traveling far for work with kids at home is tough, so clients like Cally and Ben make me extra happy! Instead of starting in my backyard like I normally do for sessions in Garrett County, we visited a sunflower field I had spotted weeks prior. I had always wanted to shoot at a sunflower field, but never had the opportunity…until this summer! So we went from a sunflower field to a mountaintop in the matter of an hour. I love the variety the Deep Creek Lake area has! 🙂 Enjoy my favorites from Cally and Ben’s session!
So much pretty yellow!
A session favorite for me!
The sunflower field was a little harder to shoot at than I had anticipated. I was trying to avoid distracting backgrounds in the distance and a lot of the flowers were starting to wilt and die. So we headed to the mountaintop for the majority of their pictures…
And I was so glad we found this field! Well, it’s actually an empty lot, but the wildflowers and  tall grass make it seem like a field. The wildflowers matched Cally’s shirt perfectly and really complimented she and Ben well. 🙂
Big time favorite for me! I love Cally’s eyes and soft small!!
An outfit and location change! I showed them the view and chair lift stations at the top of Wisp Mountain first. It was an overcast evening, so there wasn’t much to the actual view. But there was plenty of greenery and wildflowers for the final portraits…

More tall grass and wildflowers!

They’re sweet. 🙂

Thank you, Cally and Ben, for making the trip “out west” for your engagement session! I’m excited to work with you again in October for your fall wedding! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
