get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Maggie and Throop’s wedding day was a blessing for a few reasons. First, the rain. Clearly, the rain wasn’t a blessing. But despite the mounds of rain that fell the night before and the morning before, and a not-so-great weather forecast, we surprisingly had a few hours of no rain and were able to capture plenty of outdoor portraits. The barn at North Glade, where both the ceremony and reception were held, was beautifully decorated and I don’t think it’s ever looked prettier. And lastly, Maggie and Throop. They were so laid-back, so friendly, they didn’t let the rain get them down and they decided that more portraits than they had planned for was totally okay. ๐ So all in all, it was a pretty awesome day. I am so glad I was able to be a part of Maggie and Throop’s wedding and meet all their friends and family from the eastern side of the state. It’s visitors like them that keep Deep Creek Lake hoppin!
LOVE these ring shots! Definitely new JFP faves!
As you can see, I had fun with my macro lens and Maggie’s jewelry. ๐
ย
Maggie’s dress was so simple, but so beautiful. I loved the neckline, the skirt and the pockets! It really seemed to fit her so well…and she and everyone else just loved it! And thanks to my second shooter Kristin for capturing the image on the right. I love how she found a completely different perspective!
These new few black and white portraits are so great…definitely new getting ready favorites!
ย
Another great and different perspective from my second shooter Kristin on the right! ๐
ย
The texture in these next two images really catch my eye. Between the textures, black and white color, and Maggie’s dress, the images look like they’re from the early 20th century!
I love the soft colors in this image…
ย
Maggie had a piece of her late father’s shirt sewn into her dress.
I always ask my brides to sit in a pretty chair next to some great window light when putting on their shoes. It makes for some pretty bridal portraits. ๐
ย
The covered front porch at North Glade Inn is so photogenic…mostly for the awesome light that pours in from the outside! And Maggie didn’t have a bunch of bridesmaids, just a maid of honor. Her girlfriends still joined her for the getting ready process, and we included them in some portraits outside, too.
ย
LOVE this picture of Maggie!
ย
The porch also looks really good in both color and black and white…
ย
Great shot from Kristin!
Maggie and her ladies…including mom, grandma and sisters-in-law!
After I hung out with the girls, it was time for the guys! They stayed at a vacation home just down the road from North Glade…
And Throop had some pretty cool socks and shoes!
ย
The boys getting ready time was mostly filled with laughs, jokes and “Natty Boh” beverages. ๐
The rain did damper the outdoor ceremony space pretty good, so everything was moved inside the barn…
Such a beautiful space, right? The hanging lights and draperies really make you go “Wow!”
We got to hang with the cutest ring bearer. ๐
ย
A little Harvey photo shoot. ๐
Maggie did a first look with her brothers. This was Kristin’s angle…
And this was mine!
Not exactly sure what Maggie is doing here, but so thankful Kristin was there to capture it! ๐
Maggie was escorted down the aisle by her two brothers. ๐
I just had to share Maggie’s excited reaction. ๐
ย
We had a good time during their fun and formals. ๐
The wedding party! Not all parties have to big! ๐
Thank you Kristin…for this beautiful portrait!
ย
I think this was when they realized that more fun and formal portraits than they had planned on taking was more than okay. Maggie said now that she was in the moment and all dressed up, she didn’t mind. ๐
Big favorites coming up next!
HUGE FAVORITE!!!! As it was for a bunch of people on Facebook, too. ๐
A Kristin capture! Yay!
Stylin’ wedding party. ๐
They’re cute. ๐

ย
Now for the reception details! OH MY I WAS IMPRESSED!!!
I couldn’t walk away without getting a good room shot! Just look at this place! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
ย
And Maggie and Throop’s team did an awesome job decorating the tables! I love the varying vases, pots and flowers for centerpieces…
The head table area also looked very pretty! And it was done in a way I’ve not seen before. The white draperies and the glowing paper lanterns made a great backdrop…
The mis-matched bar stools are the barn bar are so cute…and so fitting!
ย
I always enjoy moments and pictures like this. ๐
ย
Yes, I may have followed Maggie around during the cocktail hour a bit. But her dress and that light and the space…I just couldn’t resist!
Maggie and Throop treated their guests to a bluegrass band.
I was focusing on the decor here, but love the faces I captured. ๐
ย
The band invited up some guest performers. ๐
ย
ย
It was a wedding that certainly ended with a celebration! ๐
ย
Maggie and Throop, thanks a million for having me…and for being so great! I really enjoyed working with you both, and I enjoyed meeting everyone you brought with you to the lake! I hope you all come back often. ๐
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it moreโฆand plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
Iโm not sure Iโm starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesdayโฆ

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
