get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Kelly and Anthony have a favorite restaurant in Cumberland, MD and they knew it was in my area, so they suggested it for their engagement session location. I was totally okay with that because downtown Cumberland has some beautiful spots for pictures. But when I found they’d be driving two hours from Pittsburgh to meet me, I felt so badly! They reassured me it was okay and I was reminded at how grateful I am to have such willing and wonderful clients. 🙂 Their engagement session took place on May 5th…and it was hot! By the end, we were all sweating…and it was completely unexpected given the early spring season. But with the heat came some lovely sunlight that really added a special touch to so many of their images. It’s sessions like these that I’m so thankful for beautiful sunshine and the beauty God has created for us here on this Earth. ENJOY my favorites, y’all! And check the blog in September for their wedding!
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw Kelly and Anthony’s sneak peek and these beautiful pink blooms below. You also probably read that this happened between a McDonald’s and a super busy road. Not the most ideal scenario, but with that light and those blooms, I knew I had to make it work!
Such a gorgeous space! Love all the pink!

Downtown Cumberland has a neat historic area that has a red brick road, older buildings and some unique charm…
Â
When we walked to the middle of the historic area, I spotted this red brick wall and knew it would make a nice backdrop…especially against Kelly and Anthony’s clothing colors. There was also nice light coming in from my right that gave these next few images some nice dimension…
Â
I love Kelly’s soft smile. 🙂
Â
They matched this old bus station!
And now for challenge number two of this session! I didn’t know there was going to be a temporary outdoor store display of flowers and plants in the historic area, and because of it, I almost skipped over this spot. But then I decided to get creative and shoot anyway! And I’m so glad I did. 🙂
Â
Also notice how very little Kelly and Anthony actually moved while we were shooting here. There’s a large variety of pictures with different poses used, but they stayed in one place the whole time!
I love Kelly’s blonde hair and the yellow shirt together! So light and so pretty!
Â
A session favorite on the left for me!
Then we moved on to another area of town where I knew the light would be SO GLOWY!!
Ah! THE LIGHT!!!
Another favorite for me. 🙂
You should have seen me trying to capture the next few! I was standing above Kelly and Anthony on a walkway trying to get the perfect angle with the perfect light and had to shoot through a metal railing! I was bending over, standing awkwardly and squeezing my lens between the rails to shoot. Goodness, I guess you can consider that challenge number three of the session!
Gettin’ moody. 🙂
A favorite! This one will probably go in the JFP portfolio!
Â
Some happy smiles to end the session!
Â
HUGE THANK YOU, Kelly and Anthony, for driving all the way down from Pittsburgh for your session! It was so nice to finally meet you guys and I’m so thankful for the beautiful sunshine that we had! I’ll see you on August 29th for your big day! 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
