get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Raegan and Kevin were married in early October in a beautifully unique outdoor setting. The Pavilion at Shenandoah Woods, a new venue in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, was perfect for their smaller outdoors-in kind of wedding. The reception took place inside the actual pavilion that provided shelter with beautiful wooden ceilings, but also allowed the outdoors to come in with three sides of no walls. And just outside the pavilion, the nearby mountains provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. It was truly a unique space for a wedding!
Aside the beautiful venue, I think I enjoyed the structure of their wedding day best. Raegan and Kevin got ready in separate rooms on opposite sides of the pavilion, just like most couples on their wedding day. But they said their “I do’s” in front of a very small group of friends and family and invited a larger group of guests to join them for the reception after. The ceremony was so quiet and personal, and because the majority of guests were coming later, we had over an hour for family and bride-groom portraits before the reception. The atmosphere was causal and laid-back, but still had an element of “formal” to it. Really, “the best of both worlds”, an awesome way to do a wedding…if you ask me. 🙂
Raegan’s dress was stunning! Check out the detail in the bodice!
And she had a second dress! This girl was ready to WOW!
I LOVED her shoes, too!
A bride and a braid!?! Awesome!
Raegan was immediately ready for her close-ups!
The ceremony…
Check out that backdrop! And surrounded by just 13 friends and family!?! So cool.
I had more than enough time with Raegan and Kevin for pictures. They didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen, so all the “fun and formal” time was just for them! It was so lovely not having to rush through these…
They had done an engagement session a few months before, so they knew exactly what do in front of the camera!
Love these black and whites!
Rockin’ the model look. 🙂 One of my favorite bride-groom portraits of 2014!
Another view of the mountainous backdrop!
And some stunning bridal portraits of Raegan to round out the “fun and formal” pictures. She was just stunning!
Check out the inside of this venue! We were inside yet we were outside, too! Another example of the “best of both worlds” for this wedding day! 🙂
BBQ for dinner! So fitting for this southern wedding!
The sky surprised me with those colors!!!
And a campfire!
I asked Raegan and Kevin to step away for some final portraits at the end of the night…
So beautiful, right!?! The fall colors, the venue, her dresses, the small ceremony, their loving portraits…a great wedding all around! Raegan and Kevin, high five on putting together such a wonderful day, and for inviting me to capture it all! It’s definitely a wedding for the JFP history books. 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
