JFP Packaging

I used to be a HUGE blog follower. LIKE HUGE! I followed hundreds of blogs and stalked them as much as I could. But this was during the start-up days of JFP. These blogs were of photographers I admired and thought were super awesome at their craft. I wanted to be inspired to do great things with my new business and I got just what I asked for from the blogs!

Nowadays, I have much less time to stalk those blogs, but I still look at a few here and there. One photographer that I found last year, Lauryn Galloway, inspired me to amp up my JFP packaging. She shared a blog post on her new packaging and I was blown away! Her packaging was so unique, so fun and so HER! I wanted that! I wanted to keep JFP unique, expand the brand and give my clients a high-end product.

So I began brainstorming and doing some research online. I also used the wonderful world of Pinterest to find tangible ideas that I could recreate. It’s still in the trial and error period, but I’ve put some packaging together specifically for JFP clients and I’m excited to share with everyone!

My super fun custom rubber stamp came from RubberStamps.net. The hot pink ink came from Michael’s craft store. It’s kinda fun to put the JFP stamp of approval on just about everything. 🙂 The candy came from Walmart – I buy according to the season, so my clients received Valentine’s candy last month. I always try to include at least a few of my favorite candy and maybe even a favorite snack or two. I send out little “thank you” packages after a couple books with me for wedding photography or after I do a portrait session. They include a thank you note, some yummy candy and colorful crinkle paper. It’s nothing huge or expensive, but I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from surprised clients. It’s all about creating a great experience, right!?! 🙂

To help decorate the packaging, I bought some yarn at Michael’s, and washi tape and blank manila tags from Pretty Tape on Etsy.

Hand-written notes definitely add a personal element.

My thank you cards were designed by Rachel, the same designer lady that put my new branding together! (If anyone is interested in chatting with her about design possibilities, let me know!). I was actually inspired by the thank you cards I bought last year after Ally was born. They were colorfully collaged with baby-related words and I wanted something very similar for my thank you cards. I think Rachel did a fab job! I ordered the cards from Mpix.com. And there’s the colorful krinkle paper! When I stumbled upon it, I couldn’t believe that it was the exact colors of my brand! It’s great for adding an extra element of pizzazz to the packaging and it helps cushion items inside boxes. The krinkle paper came from Creative Gift Packaging.

Here’s a coffee table book packaged and ready to go! The off-white box actually came from Miller’s Lab – it’s part of their boutique packaging. I just removed the brown ribbon that came with it and added my yarn and manila tag. And of course I had to stamp the tag with some pink ink!

The pink padded envelopes and boxes were a steal from the post office! They’re having a 50% off sale on their spring packaging and because it matches my brand so well, I stocked up! Of course they didn’t have all the sizes I was looking for, so I’ll soon be ordering some elsewhere. But can you just imagine these bright pink packages rolling through the mail!?! They definitely stand out and I hope my clients think “JFP” as soon as they arrive! I’m still working on the outside elements and may need to get some address labels. But my homemade “labels” will have to do for now.

What do you think about my new packaging!? I’d love some feedback so feel free to leave a comment below. MUCHAS GRACIAS!!

I love all the branding work! This is such a hard thing in marketing. I had the fabulous idea to have my business cards have a strip of fabric sewn to them – because what could be better with a business called “Sew Abundantly”? I forgot to consider how much time that type of amazing creativity takes! . . . you know.

BTW – do you know about “Pick Your Plum”? It’s a one item/day steal – normally crafty type items. They had Washi Tape last week.

Thanks, Erin! The fabric biz cards is such a creative idea, but would def be time-consuming. I think that’s how I got with the packaging initially. All these crafty creative ideas, but putting them into practice wasn’t completely practical. At least our creative juices are flowing! I’m going to have to check out “Pick Your Plum”…thanks for suggesting!

Thanks, Serena! It’s so funny that you leave me a comment because I was just reading your blog today for the FIRST time. I stumbled upon it through Abby Grace’s blog. I love your work and your style! I’ll def be keeping up with you from time to time. Thanks so much for visiting!

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
