get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
Wow. It’s finally here. It’s time to move into our new home, the home that we built (well, it was actually Brian and a bunch of crews, but we made all the decisions). The home that we’ve been planning for since last summer. I remember when we bought the land. I remember thinking it would take forever to actually get to the point of moving in and making it a home. But as I look back, it seems like that time flew by. Picking out plans, choosing cabinets, comparing subcontractors…we were busy over the past 12+ months and it’s finally coming to an end. We’ll of course still be busy decorating the home and working on small projects, but we’re finally going to move into our “forever house” and start a new life in Maryland.
It’s fun to think back to where Brian and I’s journey began and compare it to where we are today. We met in 2005 at Bridgewater College in Virginia. After graduation, Brian moved to Hagerstown, MD. We got engaged and he bought us a house in Waynesboro, PA. We lived in that house for three years and it’s where Ally lived her first seven months. We then made the decision to move to Morgantown, WV for both family and work reasons. After living with my parents for two months in PA, we started renting here in Morgantown. Growing up only 45 minutes from Morgantown, living here never crossed my mind. Morgantown’s been great to us and I’m glad it’ll be within reach once we move.
And now we’re looking forward to Garrett County, MD, where we’ll be living for a good while…at least until the kids go to college. Just like the thought of living in Morgantown never crossed my mind, the thought of living in Garrett County never crossed my mind…at least not until Brian and I started making long-term plans a couple years ago. I visited Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County every summer because my grandparents had a cabin at the lake. Brian grew up in Oakland, MD in Garrett County and lived there for 22 years. And now we’re both going to be living there…an area that’s so familiar to us and a place that neither of us thought would be in our long-term future. It’s crazy how things come together, isn’t it?
So as of October 31st, we’ll be peaced out of Morgantown, WV! We took seven loads of things to the new house this past weekend and did some apartment cleaning (HUGE thanks to our families for helping us with this!). There are still a handful of loads left and the apartment still needs some cleaning, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel! We’re soooo close to living in our new home and I cannot wait! The finishing touches are being put on as I type and the cleaners will be there on Wednesday to turn the place from a construction zone to a livable space. Then we’ll be there to turn it into a home. Our home. 🙂
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
