get to know ME more!
Hi Thank you so much for visiting the blog! Whether you're looking for more pretty pictures, inspiration for your wedding day, or some useful Deep Creek info, I hope you'll find a comfy seat, maybe a cup of coffee, and read on!
We’re now 3.5 months into the construction of our new house (about a year into the entire process) and there’s definitely some light at the end of the tunnel! It’s crazy to think that in early May our home site looked like this…
And now, at mid-August, our home site looked like this…
It’s been amazing to see our house take formation. From the hole in the ground to a beautiful structure where we’ll soon make memories and raise our kids…wow, it’s a crazy, awesome thing!
The house currently looks a tiny bit different than what these pictures show. The pictures were taken a week ago and we’ve had some BIG things happen since then. We passed the framing inspection (Brian says that’s the “big one”), the front porch was poured and insulation was installed. The dry wall is being delivered this weekend and will be hung next week, which means we’ll have actual, physical walls! No more wooden beams and 2x4s!
Here’s a better look at both the inside and outside of the house…
Here’s a little view of the neighborhood. The people next to us have two kids under the age of seven…Ally is going to love it!
The front porch has been poured and Brian said it’s “huge”…and I think that’s OK. Lots of room for front porch sittin’. 🙂
The basement that Brian hopes to make his man cave someday…
And hop up to the second floor…inside the bonus room…
The bedrooms…
The master bedroom!
The second floor landing area…I already have great plans for decor in this space!
The JFP office! A yellow and white polka dotted wall maybe!?! 🙂
The dining room! We’re hoping to find a large farm table so we can have plenty of meals and family gatherings here!
A look at the living room from the kitchen…
A look at the kitchen from the living room…
And the kitchen! Super pumped for our cabinets, especially my red island. 🙂
And the garage…
Our building permit…didn’t realize my name was on it. I feel special. 🙂
So because we have a structure and will soon have walls, and because there’s light at the end of our construction tunnel (should be moving in October!), I’ve been thinking a lot about furniture, paint colors and decor items. I don’t know that we have a set overall theme for the entire house, but I do know that words like “rustic” and “farmhouse” have definitely been part of our conversations. We like “country”, but not kitchy, 1990’s “country”. More like modern rustic chic! Here are some things I’ve been pinning…
A super colorful pillow for our master bedroom! I love color!
Red metal bar stools for the kitchen area.
Need to paint this desk white for the JFP office!
Wood-metal combo table for the hallway/entry way.
Potential coffee table style for the living room.
Not all of these grand ideas are going to come to life right away, though. We’re going to buy new furniture, paint and decorate the home over time. Building a house doesn’t necessarily leave you with a plethora of funds, so we’ll need to save up for some of the frilly extras. But it’s fun to dream and envision for now. 🙂
P.S. HUGE shout out to the hubster who’s been working SO HARD on this house project! His knowledge of the home building process and determination to make it all great is impressive. He’s been spending a few late nights at the house recently and while I hate him being away, I know it’ll be worth it in the end. THANK YOU, HONEY!!!
Scenes and thoughts from deep creek
Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.
I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!
We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!
