A George Washington Hotel Christmas Wedding: Lauren & Matt

Well friends, I am now a BIG fan of Christmas weddings! After Lauren and Matt’s sparkly, twinkly, beautiful wedding earlier this month, I am officially a fan! Touches of red and green, trees decorated with lights and ornaments, Christmas music playing during dinner, and everyone dressed in their holiday best. JUST BEAUTIFUL!

Both the ceremony and reception took place at The George Washington Hotel in downtown Winchester, VA. In fact, the ceremony and reception took place in the SAME ROOM! The ceremony set-up was beautiful with both a white and red decorated mantle and gold and silver decorated tree as the centerpieces. It then became an elegant dinner scene with ivory table linens, lanterns and greenery and continued sparkle.

Lauren and Matt’s wedding was such a wonderful way to help kick off the holiday season and as we continue through to the New Year, it only seems fitting that their big day be enjoyed again. ENJOY!

And thanks to Lauren and Matt for having me! What a truly magical day to capture!

Lauren did her own makeup and she looked FABULOUS!

I’m so glad I captured some candids of Lauren fixing her flower girl’s hair…

I love the touches of Christmas in Matt’s details!

This picture of Matt and his mom is definitely a favorite of mine from the day!

Rebecca of Sarah K Events encouraged me to use this spot for some pictures, and I’m so glad she did! Perfect for a studious, serious shot of the guys…

You gotta let the guys have a little bit of fun. 🙂

Lauren looking radiant and she wasn’t even completely ready yet! There are PLENTY of these finishing touches moments of her…we couldn’t get enough!

She and her mama are twins. 🙂

FAVORITE!!!

I could have stood in this corner all day taking pictures!

Lauren, you’re so good at this!

Clearly another favorite! OMG!

This is the one I shared as the first sneak peek picture. It was so hard for me to choose between this one and the one of Lauren and her mom above…and I felt badly not including one of Lauren and Matt. But this one just spoke to me and really showed the beauty of their day so well!

What a gorgeous space!

Love this moment. 🙂

Lauren and Matt married at 5pm and the sun set at 4:55pm. With no first look, we had to do all group shots of the wedding party after the ceremony, as well as the bride-groom portraits. It also rained ALL DAY LONG so we actually didn’t get to take any pictures outside. I’m pretty excited about what we captured inside! The beautiful space and these beautiful people helped make it easy!

And then the room was transformed!!!

We were lucky enough to bring Lauren and Matt into their untouched reception space once it was completely ready…and I’m so glad we snagged these of them twirling on the dance floor. 🙂

Then they twirled with everyone watching!

I love a good shoe game show at the reception!

Ending with some red and green ceiling fun… 🙂

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
